“Lost” Star Daniel Dae Kim Has Tested Positive For COVID-19 And Evangeline Lilly Refuses To Self-Isolate

If you were a fan of Lost, like most fans, you probably loved Daniel Dae Kim’s character Jin-Soo Kwan and low-key hated Evangeline Lilly’s character, Kate Austin. Jin was heroic and brave, and Kate was stubborn and whiny. Well guess what, that’s kind of true in real life as both actors have shown in their responses to the coronavirus. Sadly for Daniel, he’s actually tested positive for the virus. So the danger and severity of the situation we’re all in, is very real and personal for him. As it should be for Evangeline, who is currently immunocompromised and lives with her father who has stage 4 leukemia. But Evangeline don’t curr. She posted on Instagram that she values her freedom over her life (and presumably the lives of her loved ones) and refuses to isolate herself or her children. Daniel, on the other hand, posted his coronavirus news on Instagram with a message of love and unity, and urged people to follow the guidelines to help stop the spread of the virus. So yeah, tropical polar bears don’t seem quite as crazy as they used to.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Daniel says he tested positive for COVID-19 after getting a tickle in his throat on an airplane flying from New York to his home in Hawaii. As unbelievable as it sounds (or would have sounded 5 days ago, today I’ll believe just about anything) Daniel was “shooting a TV series in which he plays a doctor who gets recruited to a hospital to help patients during a flu pandemic” when production was shut down due to the coronavirus. So he hopped on a plane home to be with his family.

“Now it’s important for you guys to know that I was asymptomatic during all of this time. But as the flight was close to landing, I started noticing some scratchiness in my throat, which is unlike how I usually get sick,” he elaborated. “So when I landed, I called my family doctor in Hawaii and he told me to monitor my symptoms. To be safe, when I got home I quarantined myself in a room in the house and tried to rest on my own. But later that night, I started feeling tightness in my chest, body aches and my temperature started to rise.”

His doctor told him to get tested so he “went to a drive-thru testing facility that had just opened” in Honolulu. That’s how he got the news. Daniel says he was never hospitalized and that he’s been home, in isolation, recovering. He says that even though he’s almost completely recovered, he was “in bed for several days,” and urged “teenagers and millennials who think this is not serious,” to reconsider their behavior. He also noted that “the virus doesn’t care about race or gender, religion, sexual orientation, whether you’re rich or poor, or your immigration status.

May the universe protect this very handsome man. Unfortunately, teenagers and millennials aren’t the only ones being dumbasses about the coronavirus. Evangeline is practically shouting her dumbassery from the rooftops. Here’s her Instagram post letting us know it’s #businessasusual at casa de corona.

In the comments, Evangeline doubled down on her decision to thumb her nose at CDC recommendations and governmental regulations, knowing full well she shouldn’t be touching her face. (via Page Six)

Responding to her fans’ concerns and judgmental comments, Lilly revealed that she’s living with her father, who has stage 4 leukemia.

“I am also immune compromised at the moment,” she added. “I have two young kids. Some people value their lives over freedom, some people value freedom over their lives. We all make our choices.”

The former “Lost” star said she considers COVID-19 simply a “respiratory flu” and believes the government is taking too much control.

“Where we are right now feels a lot too close to Marshall Law [sic] for my comfort already, all in the name of a respiratory flu,” she responded in another comment. “It’s unnerving…Let’s be vigilant right now. And kind. Watchful and gracious — keeping a close eye on our leaders, making sure they don’t abuse this moment to steal away more freedoms and grab more power.”

Does Eminem have a song about self-isolation? Is that what Marshall Mathers Law is? All I know is Evangeline better keep her corona-crusted hands off her Ant-Man co-star Paul Rudd! Don’t even think about it, Lilly! Not even a text.
