“BH90210” Has Been Canceled

Fox has decided that the six episodes of BH90210 were more than enough. The reboot which had already been rebooted is dead once more. But knowing how these things go, it won’t be for long. Give it two to four years for a reboot of this reboot.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Fox has officially pulled the plug on BH90210. The reason is apparently ratings, which were shit except for a highly rated premiere. Which means people saw the first episode and were like: “Nope.” And so Fox is done with it, but they made a very “nostalgic” statement about wasting everyone’s time and their money:

“We are so proud to have reunited in a very special summer event one of the network’s legacy series and casts with 90210 fans across the country. Profound thanks to and respect for Brian Austin Green, Gabrielle Carteris, Ian Ziering, Jason PriestleyJennie Garth, Shannen Doherty and Tori Spelling, who, along with the entire crew and everyone at Fox and CBS Television Studios, poured their hearts and souls into this truly inventive and nostalgic revival.”

If by “truly inventive” he means ridiculous and troubled from the start, then yes. There were major “creative issues” because apparently Tori and Jennie, who both also produced on the series, wanted to be too involved in the creative process. Source tell THR that 13 writers quit the show throughout its run. Quit. A Hollywood writing gig. There were six episodes… I mean…

The show also wasn’t worth it since the main cast was making $70,000 an episode, meaning they made $420,000 (blaze it!) salary for six episodes. Jennie and Tori also got $15,000 more an episode for creating the show. Jason got an additional $46,000 for directing an episode. That seems like a lot to me, but apparently it’s not. One “prolific talent agent” said:

“I thought they would have made at least six figures.”

Well, good things did come from the BH90210 reboot. Fans got their shot of nostalgia and Tori got paid. Although, Amex can close their open hands now, because I doubt a piece of that check is going into their palms.
