“Revenge” Is Getting A Latinx Reboot
I watched Revenge all the way through, and I’ll admit, the first and third seasons are the best ones while the second is all over the place, and watching the final season is like, “Okay let’s get this over with.” And it’s been off TV for a whole four years. So by today’s standards that means that it is ready for the reboot treatment!
Yes, a show popular with gays who liked watching two beautiful, powerful white women take each other down in society, wealth, family-relations and probably execution-style, is now ready to be redone. But this is Revenge for the current age and is getting a twist. It’s about a Latinx character getting revenge on a big pharmaceutical family who caused an epidemic. Wow: that is on the nose.
Deadline says that my favorite show between the years 2011 and 2015 with an eight-month lull starting 2012–is back! The 2011 series starred Emily VanCamp as Amanda Clarke/Emily Thorne who was trying to get revenge on Madeleine Stowe‘s, Grayson Family–who framed her father sending him to prison where he died (allegedly).
This reboot is coming from the same creator and executive producer as the original, Mike Kelley, with writer producer Joe Fazzio and is being written by both. The new plot follows a young Latinx immigrant who is “guided by” an original series favorite–it’s not been revealed who yet but there are some options. She gets to Malibu where she plans on getting sweet, sweet vengeance on a:
“Sackler-esque pharmaceutical dynasty, whose insatiable greed lead to the murder of her biochemist mother, the destruction of her family, and a global epidemic.”
Yes, Hollywood has been empty of original ideas since forever, but I can’t wait to see this hot Latinx lady use subterfuge and manipulation to bring down a pharmaceutical dynasty! Now, if ABC says that they’re only rebooting the FIRST season of Revenge, this will be even more perfect, because nobody wants to see the return of Courtney Love’s sad wig.
