Dax Shepard Annoyed Jay-Z At The Met Gala

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell are known for several things. They’re a couple, they’re a couple of actors, and they are very good at annoying the hell out of people. Usually it happens whenever Dax or Kristen decides to tell a TMI story about their personal life. But did you know Dax can also annoy people all on his own, with no help from Kristen? According to Kristen, Dax once cornered Jay-Z at the Met Gala in hopes of making a new friend, but Jay-Z wasn’t having any of it.

Kristen was on the YouTube series Hot Ones, which Dax had appeared on two years ago. During Dax’s appearance, he claimed that he worshiped Jay-Z, and was so excited to be seated at the same table as Jay-Z and Beyoncé a few years ago at the Met Gala. Dax didn’t say which Met Gala it was, but since there are only pictures of Dax and Kristen from 2012, it’s probably safe to assume it was the 2012 Met Gala. Dax claimed that he thought Beyoncé liked him, and that Kanye West (also seated at the same table) liked him. But that Jay-Z really didn’t seem to enjoy Dax.

Kristen was asked to fact-check Dax’s story during her Hot Ones appearance, and she said that Dax was telling the truth when he said that Jay-Z was putting out vibes that he would have switched seats with just about anyone. Except the way Kristen tells it, Dax was being way more annoying and embarrassing.

“We were sitting right next to Jay-Z and Beyoncé. And when we found this out, we were – forget it, we were so excited. And I was like, ‘This is going to be great. Finally after tonight, we’ll have them in our phone, we’ll be best friends.’ And then we maneuvered the tables so that Dax could sit right next to Jay-Z. And Dax talked his ear off. And I don’t think Jay was that interested. But I was proud of him that he went for broke. I think at one point he also hit him with a lyric, where I was like, ‘Ooh ooh ooh, nuh uh.’ I think he was like, ‘Real recognize real!’ and I was like, ‘Dax, Dax – don’t…don’t.'”

At the time, Jay-Z probably thought that was his worst Met Gala experience. At least until two years later, when the 2014 Met Gala happened. That’s the one in which he entered an elevator with Beyoncé and Solange, and came out with a sore jaw. I can’t be sure, but now that I go back and look at those pictures of Jay-Z leaving the Met Gala that night, it almost looks like he’s thinking, “Ok I was wrong, I’d much rather be sitting next to Dax Shepard!”
