Here’s What Katharine McPhee And Sophie Turner Got Married In

July 5, 2019 / Posted by:

Last weekend, a ton of famous people and reality stars got hitched. We already know what  Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor looked like when they got hitched, thanks to People magazine. Zoe Kravitz must be waiting for an offer from Hipster Brides, because so far all we have are pictures of her rehearsal dinner outfit. In the meantime, we’ve got some pics to satisfy all those expensive wedding dress enthusiasts out there, courtesy of Katharine McPhee and Sophie Turner.

Katharine, who is now the fifth Mrs. David Foster after getting married in London last weekend, posted a picture of herself spinning around in her wedding gown to “Higher Love” by Whitney Houston. People says that Katharine’s dress was a custom job by her friend, Zac Posen.

The video was also shared by Vogue’s Instagram account, which means Katharine probably got a big, glossy spread in next month’s issue. It’s all very trade center bridal show, which is fine for any regular ol’ bride. People says the only thing that was a little different was that Katharine had the lyrics to the Celine Dion song “The Color of My Love” embroidered on the back of her dress. Katharine explained why in an Instagram story:

“FUN FACT: One of David’s songs was notated on the back of my dress. It was the song he wrote for Celine and René [Angélil] for their wedding day. It was a relationship that David always admired and was there from the beginning.”

That’s all well and good, but Katharine married an old rich dude twice her age. Where’s the pizazz? The razzle-dazzle? If I was about to go from “That chick from American Idol” to “Fifth wife of an $80 millionaire musician,” you better believe I’d be working more than 20 yards of ivory tulle, sweetheart neckline, and some Celine lyircs. I’d ride down the aisle on a sold-gold piano, wearing a dress made from the original sheet music for St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion), mouthing the words “He also wrote 13 songs for Chicago.

Now onto Sophie Turner, who married Joe Jonas a second time last weekend. Both Joe and Sophie shared the same picture of themselves strutting down the aisle, with Joe in a suit and Sophie in what People says is a Louis Vuitton dress.

Based on what I said about Katharine’s dress, you might think Sophie’s is not my cup of tea. However, the bottom of her dress kind of looks like cake fondant that was rolled onto a counter that wasn’t wiped off first, and anything reminiscent of food can’t be bad. And the top of her dress reminds me of when everyone in the 11th grade started wearing a t-shirt over a long-sleeve shirt. And let’s face it, early 2000s mall skater punk fashion is always a timeless look.
