John Stamos Tells Dax Shepard He Almost Went On A Date With Kristen Bell, But Felt He Was “Too Old”

People reports that John Stamos went on Dax Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert, and spilled some extremely cold tea. John reveals that, back in 2005, he was almost set up with Dax’s wife, Kristen Bell. This was news to Dax, who met Kristen in 2007. Unfortunately for Kristen (gimme that Greek hunk over “comedian” Dax any day!), John, then 42, decided not to pursue things because he thought he was “too old” for the then-25-year-old Kristen. How refreshing! Except, um, John’s current wife, Caitlin McHugh Stamos, is 36 years old. This makes her a full six years younger than now-42-year-old Kristen and 23 years younger than 59-year-old John. D’oh!

Here’s exactly what happened back in the day. via People:

“I was freshly divorced [from Rebecca Romijn]. There was some award show or party or afterparty or something,” Stamos told the fellow actor and comedian of his 2005 encounter.

“And my press agent … says, ‘There’s this girl that wants to meet you. You gotta meet her. She’s in the theater. She’s fun — you guys would be great together.’ It was Kristen,” he added.

After John told Dax he felt “too old” to date Kristen, he joked, “But then I got over that!” Enter his second wife, Caitlin, who John met in 2011 when they both co-starred on an episode of Law & Order: SVU. The pair began dating in 2016, got engaged the following year, married in February 2018, and welcomed their son, Billy, two months later. If I were Kristen, I’d be seething! She could’ve been Kristen Bell Stamos!

Months ago, right after Bob Saget’s untimely death, I went on a deep marijuana-fuelled 2:00 AM Instagram dive into Bob, John, and Dave Coulier’s Full House friendship. I discovered something sinister. Before Bob passed, all three men were on their second marriages to wives who were 23 years younger than them (OK, for Coulier, the age gap is actually 23 years and nine months, but let’s round it down for dramatic effect). My question is this… what is the significance of the number 23? Was this just a coincidence that stemmed from typical Hollywood mid-life crises? Or something… much darker?

OK, never mind, it’s the mid-life crisis one.
