Sydney Sweeney Defends Herself Against The Backlash Over Her Mom’s Birthday Party Photos

Sydney Sweeney is in hot water. No, it’s not for saying something about practically being a POOR. This time it’s because of some Instagram pictures from her mom’s 60th birthday bash. While 60-year-olds can still get down, the pictures aren’t the typical drunken party photos that starlets and Finnish prime ministers get in trouble for. The images in question feature MAGA-like hats and a Blue Lives Matter t-shirt.

Sydney posted a photo dump of a surprise cowboy-themed party for her mom’s birthday. There was line dancing, cowboy hats, a jean jacket embroidery station, and, of course, a mechanical bull. HOWEVER, it appears that this particular party included a controversial red hat in the mix. Eagle-eyed fans spotted that some attendees were wearing MAGA-looking hats, and one guy was wearing a Blue Lives Matter t-shirt. This created a “firestorm” online wherein Sydney was dragged for hosting a MAGA party.

Sydney caught wind of the mess and responded. via TheWrap:

Sydney Sweeney has addressed the social media firestorm that erupted after she posted a photo dump on Instagram in celebration of her mother’s 60th birthday, one photo which featured an unidentified man donning a Blue Lives Matter shirt.

“You guys this is wild,” the two-time Emmy nominee wrote on Twitter. “An innocent celebration for my moms milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions. Much love to everyone ♥️ and Happy Birthday Mom!”

The “Euphoria” breakout had posted the photos from the celebration earlier on Saturday. “No better way to celebrate my momma than a surprise hoedown🤠,” she captioned the post, in which the second photo depicts herself, her mother and several other individuals around a birthday cake. A man can be clearly seen in the background with the MAGA-affiliated outerwear. In separate photos posted by her brother, Trent, attendees are depicted in MAGA parody hats that read: “Make Sixty Great Again.”

Prior to this party, the only thing we know about her family is that her grandparents dubbed her as having “the best tits in Hollywood,” so maybe a dude wearing blue lives shirt isn’t too surprising? Seeing as the hats were novelty hats, she’s gotten some sympathy online.

Sydney is probably hoping that someone else in the Euphoria cast starts up some shit soon. After all, it does look like it’s in their contracts to cause some kind of internet drama off-season!
