Kristen Stewart Felt She Got Approval From Princess Diana’s Spirit While Filming “Spencer”

Last week Kristen Stewart’s Princess Diana biopic, Spencer, debuted at the Venice International Film Festival, and, so far, the reviews have been pretty good. But people are foaming at the mouth over Kristen’s portrayal of Diana. Critics are saying it’s the best performance of her career, the audience at the premiere gave her a three-minute standing ovation, and all the Veneziani canal fishies literally learned human English so they could gurgle,“GIVE HER THE OSCUHHH!”
Kristen has previously spoken about she couldn’t shake her Diana obsession after filming wrapped, and, in a recent Los Angeles Times interview, she’s sharing that she felt she got approval from Diana’s spirit during filming. Kristen admits it could have been “fantasizing” on her part, but she felt that Diana was alive on set.
The interviewer set Kristen up by asking if she’d ever had any paranormal experiences. She laughed and answered:
No. But I felt some spooky, spiritual feelings making this movie. Even if I was just fantasizing. I felt like there were moments where I kind of got the sign-off. It’s scary to tell a story about someone who’s not alive anymore and who already felt so invaded. I never wanted to feel like we were invading anything, just that we were kind of adding to the multiplicity of a beautiful thing.
Then the interviewer asked if Kristen had ever felt Diana with her. Kristen replied:
She felt so alive to me when I was making this movie, even if it’s all between the ears and it was just a fantasy of mine. But there were moments where my body and mind would forget she was dead. And suddenly, I would just have an image of what happened. And remember who she left behind. And I was amazed by the renewed emotion. Every single time. Maybe two or three times a week, I would just fully break down about the fact that she had died. I just could not come to terms with it, because I was fighting to keep her alive every single day.
Kristen added that remembering Diana was dead was “just absolutely lacerating” and “destroyed me constantly.” She explains:
And that itself felt spiritual…there were times where I was like, “Oh, God,” almost like she was, you know, trying to break through. It was weird. And amazing. I’ve never felt anything like it in my life.
I kinda/sorta believe in ghosts because, hey, why not? But would Princess Diana Ghost really go out of her way to visit the set of Spencer in Germany and give K-Stew the thumbs up? I’m gonna say no. She was probably too busy partying it up with Gianni Versace, George Michael, and Freddie Mercury at heaven’s hottest gay club, “Kingdom Cum.” Some angels wait an eternity to get in, but Diana and her gang get to stroll past the riff-raff in line every single night. Rest in Party!
