Bob Saget’s “Full House” Family, And Others Close To Him, Have Spoken About His Death
Yesterday, America’s Dad Bob Saget died suddenly at the age of 65. Bob was found in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, FL where he was in the middle of a stand-up tour. Almost immediately, tributes began pouring in, the general vibe of which was that Bob Saget was an incredibly kind person with a huge heart. And so it should come as no surprise that tons of famous types and comedians, and especially his former Full House family, have spoken out about losing Bob after learning of the news of his death.
Bob Saget was a prolific and beloved stand-up comedian, so naturally, he’s going to be memorialized within that community. But to a whole lot of people who grew up in the 90s and lived by ABC’s TGIF lineup, Bob Saget was Danny Tanner. And to those same people, Bob’s death probably made a little part of them wonder if anyone has checked in on Uncle Jesse, Uncle Joey, DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle. Well, their real-life counterparts have all issues statements. John Stamos tweeted that he’s in “shock” at the news. Bob and John played brothers-in-law on Full House for eight years, then again for four years on Fuller House. In between that time, they became close friends, with John Stamos serving as Roastmaster for Bob Saget’s 2008 Comedy Central Roast.
I am broken. I am gutted. I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby.

Candace Cameron Bure echoed John’s message by saying that Bob was one of the “best human beings,” and that she also loved him so much.
I don’t know what to say 💔. I have no words. Bob was one of the best humans beings I’ve ever known in my life. I loved him so much.

Another broken heart comes from Dave Coulier, who called Bob his forever brother.
My heart is broken. I love you, Bob. Your forever brother, Dave.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen don’t really do social media, so they released a joint statement, via Deadline:
“Bob was the most loving, compassionate and generous man. We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us but know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always has. We are thinking of his daughters, wife and family and are sending our condolences.”
Jodie Sweetin came through with a long social media eulogy dedicated to “the best TV dad,” which ended with a promise to tell a dirty joke at Bob’s funeral.
Andrea Barber, who played next-door nuisance Kimmy Gibler, paid tribute to Bob Saget on Instagram, who reiterated that Bob had a reputation in Hollywood of having an enormous heart, and encouraged everyone to be like Bob and tell your loved ones that you love them.
Danny Tanner’s former Wake Up San Francisco co-star has also released a statement (aka Lori Loughlin has something to say too). She described Bob as being “my family.” via People magazine:
“Words cannot begin to express how devastated I am. Bob was more than my friend, he was my family. I will miss his kind heart and quick wit. Thank you for a lifetime of wonderful memories and laughter. I love you Bobby.”
So we’ve hear from Bob Saget’s TV family, but his real-life family has also spoken out following his death. Bob left behind his wife of four years, Kelly Rizzo, and his three daughters from his first marriage, Aubrey, Lara, and Jennifer. They released a collective statement yesterday, confirming the news, and celebrating his contributions to the world of laughter. via UsWeekly:
“We are devastated to confirm that our beloved Bob passed away today,” the family said in a statement to Us Weekly on Sunday. “He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter.” The late star’s loved ones asked for privacy during this time, but also invited fans to “join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.”
Other celebrity tributes have piled in, from Neil Patrick Harris, who starred on How I Met Your Mother, which Bob narrated, or the more random Whoopi Goldberg.
Absolutely stunned to hear about Bob Saget. He was always so kind and generous and hilarious. Gone too soon. #RIP

Beautiful Bob Saget passed away today at 65. He had a big, big heart and a wonderfully warped comic mind. He gave the world a lot of joy and lived his life for goodness’ sake. :’^} pic.twitter.com/QVSITsfaVj

And in a surprise twist, a moving tribute came in from Pete Davidson. Yes, exactly the Pete Davidson you’re thinking of. Much like the Olsens, Pete doesn’t really do social media, so he had SNL writer Dave Sirus release a statement on his behalf. According to Pete, Bob Saget supported Pete through many mental health struggles, like working with Pete’s mom to find him medical connections, and just generally making sure Pete was okay. via People magazine:
“Bob Saget was one of the nicest men on the planet,” Davidson wrote in his statement.
“When I was younger and several times throughout our friendship he helped me get through some rough mental health stuff. He stayed on the phone with my mom for hours trying to help in anyway he can – connecting us with doctors and new things we can try,” he continued. “He would check in on me and make sure I was okay.”
Added Davidson: “I love you Bob it was an honor to know you. Thank you for your kindness and friendship. My condolences to the family.”
So basically, Bob Saget was one of the best dads on television, and was a mental health father figure to a young comedian who lost their dad. His kindness and support was so extensive, he probably never even ended a call with Pete by saying, “And listen, do what you want, but maybe slow down on all the weird tattoos?“.
