“The View” Is Reportedly Having Trouble Finding A Permanent Conservative Co-Host

The View is on The Hunt, but they have their work cut out for them. Ever since the Victimhood™ and Nepotism™ MVP, Meghan McCain, left the show back in August after four years of interrupting everyone to say some Bullshit™, the show has been looking for a conservative to permanently replace her. Hopefully with fewer interruptions. But the thing is, in this political landscape they want a co-host who is a conservative and has credibility with Republicans but doesn’t think Joe Biden won the presidency through voter fraud, is against the attack on the Capitol, and won’t ever get caught wearing a QAnon t-shirt. And sources tell Politico that person doesn’t exist.

The View is currently hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines. Since Meghan left, her chair has been filled with guest co-hosts like S.E. Cupp, Alyssa Farah, Mia Love, Morgan Ortagus, Condoleeza Rice, Carly Fiorina, Gretchen Carlson, and even Meghan’s mom Cindy McCain. Politico’s source says that Whoopi, Joy, Sunny, and Sara are over the rotating line-up of guest co-hosts and wish producers would just pick someone already. Last month, Sunny told New York Magazine that “right now, we still do need a really conservative voice… And we need someone that’s not duplicative of anyone else on the panel.” It doesn’t look like they’re picking a permanent co-host anytime soon, because in the new year, they plan to bring back past guest co-hosts for a second round as well as new guest co-hosts including Bari Weiss.

Sources say that Ana Navarro, who regularly fills in, is not a complete fit to permanently take over the spot because she doesn’t really fight with the other co-hosts and is not a traditional Republican.

Sources close to the show said that the search has stalled as executives struggle to find a conservative cast-member who checks all the right boxes. They will not consider a Republican who is a denier of the 2020 election results, embraced the January 6 riots, or is seen as flirting too heavily with fringe conspiracy theories or the MAGA wing of the GOP. But at the same time, the host must have credibility with mainstream Republicans, many of whom still support Donald Trump.

“The problem is that they bring people on under the mantle that this woman is a conservative, when they’re “Never Trump,” so they don’t represent the country,” said one of the rotating guest hosts. At the same time, the anti-Trump conservative can’t be seen as too chummy with the other co-hosts, as the network’s market-research shows that the audience wants to see the women spar. Sources said that this has hurt the chances of Ana Navarro, a regular fill-in on the conservative chair who worked as a surrogate for Joe Biden in 2020: She is perceived by the producers as too friendly with the other hosts and not a traditional Republican.

“They are really looking for a unicorn,” said a former show staffer. “They want someone who is going to fight–but not too hard, because they don’t want it to be ugly and bickering.”

Sources also claim that producers were into giving Kat Timpf of Fox News the spot, but she wasn’t interested.

…Sources said that the show was eager to recruit young libertarian Kat Timpf, but she turned them down because of the show’s reputation for treating conservatives poorly and her contract with Fox…

“Our plans are on track as we continue to look for the right person to join our panel of smart, dynamic women,” said a View spokesperson. “We look forward to welcoming guest co-hosts for return appearances and introducing new names into the mix in the new year.”

Oh, a unicorn they say? Why do I have a feeling that attention whore extraordinaire Megyn Kelly is going to show up to The View studio in a unicorn costume like, “I’m here!
