Piers Morgan Denies That His Book Has Sold Less Than 6000 Copies Despite Having Millions Of Twitter Followers

Piers Morgan is like the human equivalent of an anal fissure bursting while you’re driving on the highway in bumper-to-bumper traffic and you’re almost out of gas and you’re also late to a work meeting. And I think that people have caught on to that! Because The New York Times reports that his book about “woke” culture, Wake Up: Why the World Has Gone Nuts, has sold 5,650 print copies. The Times notes that Piers has 8 million Twitter followers, so I think we can officially call his book a flop. But Piers denies it and The New York Times has since clarified their article to say he has sold 5,640 copies in the US, thankyouverymuch.
The New York Times has a big article out about how lots of people with millions and millions of social media followers apparently can’t sell a book to save their lives. 5,650 print copies of Wake Up have been sold since its publication a year ago–based on industry data compiled by BookScan. But Piers isn’t the only person who’s famous online and nobody cares to read a book from. Justin Timberlake‘s Hindsight: & All the Things I Can’t See in Front of Me from 2018 has sold only 100,000 copies, even though he has 62.6 million Instagram followers. But I mean, Instagram? That’s for people who specifically don’t want to read things? Oh wait, he has 63 million Twitter followers too. Womp-womp, I guess no one gives a shit!
But the thing is, giant troll Piers is getting a taste of his troll medicine. Indy100 says that writers who don’t have millions of followers roasted Piers because they outsold his ass in spades:
Just me, selling more books than Piers Morgan lol pic.twitter.com/zwlqcYpx36

This week I’ve learned that my month-old book has outsold both Chris Christie and Piers Morgan so that’s… something

Of course, Piers is defending himself and claims he’s actually sold hundreds of thousands of books worldwide and The New York Times posted a clarification:
There's been a lot of gleeful media coverage of my Wake Up book sales since the @nytimes falsely claimed I only sold 5650 copies.
For the record, these are the current sales numbers:
133,279 Hardback
56,922 Paperback
25,871 Ebook
29,992 Audio
6,226 Trade Paperback pic.twitter.com/8Qkh1osyZo— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) December 8, 2021
UPDATE: New York Times publishes correction to article falsely claiming I only sold 5k copies of my book Wake Up. In fact, it’s sold 253k copies to date in all formats incl 195k print.
I trust the many other media outlets that gleefully reprinted this bilge also now correct. pic.twitter.com/RLhfzK1F2y— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) December 8, 2021
I wonder what Piers’ next written masterpiece will be about. This last one lambasted “woke” people, so what else does Piers hate? Hmm, my guesses for his next book are: “Women: Why Fat Ones Are Disgusting And Should Be Shunned And Smart Ones Need To Shut The Fuck Up,” or “Meghan Markle Is An Evil Bitch: How One Woman Lied About Her Mental Health To Personally Spite Me.” But in the meantime, maybe he should ask his bestie, Sharon Osbourne, to buy a few copies of his book at Barnes & Nobles to help him out with US book sales.
