Ben Affleck Says His Relationship With Jennifer Lopez Is “Beautiful”

The Original Bennifer, still a thing! And what a wonderful, beautiful thing, according to Ben Affleck. Ben and Jennifer Lopez began dating again in May, and it wasn’t just merely a butt-rubbing summer romance. They’re still very much a thing and show no sign of cooling off, like so many Dunkin’ breakfast sausage and cheese sandwiches Ben has carelessly forgotten about on the dashboard of his car. Ben recently spoke to The Wall Street Journal about this amazing current chapter of his life, and while he refused to get into the specifics about dating JLo, he would say that it’s a “beautiful” time for the two of them.

For some reason, Ben really wanted to play coy and keep things to himself when The Wall Street Journal asked him about JLo. Oh, so suddenly we’re all shy now and want to keep things discreet? Okay Ben, I believe you. Maybe JLo warned Ben that they need to save some mystery and build suspense for the big holiday photoshoot she had planned that involves a playful snowball fight and Ben dropping down to one knee to present JLo with a candy cane. Or, maybe Ben’s publicist whispered in his ear that they really don’t want to spend the rest of the week fielding calls after people start reading too much into the words he decided to spill about his girlfriend. What Ben would say is that he’s changed for the better over the past five years and that one of the things he’s learned has been to keep his mouth shut. via The Wall Street Journal:

“You can write conjecture about [his relationship with JLo], but one of the harder lessons that I have learned is that it’s not wise to share everything with the world. I know that I feel more comfortable having those healthy boundaries in my life around which, in a friendly and straightforward way, I tell you, I just don’t want to be talking about my personal relationship in the newspaper. I’m going to exercise a little restraint.”

When Ben said he wanted to exercise a little restraint, who knew he was putting the stress on “little.” Because he went on to blab about their relationship and officially upgraded from being “in awe” to the general concept of beauty:

“I can say that it’s definitely beautiful to me. And, you know, one of the things I really value across all facets of my life now is that it was handled in a way that reflected that. My life now reflects not just the person that I want to be, but the person that I really feel like I am – which is not perfect, but somebody who tries very hard and cares very much about being honest and authentic and accountable. It’s hard to say who benefits more, without going into gossipy detail. I could just say that I feel great about being very healthy. And it is a good story. It’s a great story. And, you know, maybe one day I’ll tell it. I’ll write it all out. [Pauses] And then I’ll light it on fire. [Laughs]”

And when the interview was over, I’m sure Jennifer Lopez slapped Ben in horror. “LIGHT IT ON FIRE?! Are you kidding me? We could sell for big bucks as a screenplay! Beautiful: The Bennifer Story. I can already picture the Oscar nominations, and the perfume commercial tie-in!
