Open Post: Hosted By Carrie Bradshaw Wearing Forever 21

In case ya haven’t heard, they’re filming the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That, all over NYC this summer. This means people get a sneak peek of Carrie Bradshaw & Co’s fancy fashions via paparazzi pics. There’s even an Instagram account, @justlikethatcloset, which documents the make and model of every single outfit. The latest photos show Sarah Jessica Parker wearing a flowy maxi dress over a blue collared shirt (“Unnecessary Layering” is Carrie’s middle name) as she goes to meet Mr. Big’s ex Natasha (Bridget Moynahan) for lunch. And the Internet is AGHAST because the dress has been identified as… gulp… Forever 21?!

A reminder that Sex and the City’s costume designer, Patricia Fields, did not return for the reboot. She’s currently working on the second season of the Golden Globe-nominated Emily in Paris and was replaced by Molly Rogers, who worked with Patricia on the original show.

Some Instagram commenters applauded the choice to have Carrie wear more affordable clothes. Others tsk-tsk-ed cuz Forever 21 isn’t sustainable. Even more people were disgusted that THEE Carrie Bradshaw would show up to meet romantic rival Natasha in something so cheap. But fuck the commoners, what do Sarah Jessica’s co-stars think?
