Harvey Weinstein Was Extradited To Los Angeles To Face 11 New Counts Of Sexual Assault

The bad news is that they let Harvey Weinstein out of prison in New York where he is serving a 23-year sentence for sexual assault. They let him out so he could take a little trip to Los Angeles to see the sights, and if we’re lucky, work on his complexion. The good news is it wasn’t by choice and the only sights he’s likely to see will be the inside of the LA County Courthouse where he will be arraigned tomorrow on “four counts of forcible rape, four counts of forcible oral copulation, two counts of sexual battery by restraint, and one count of sexual penetration by use of force,” according to CNN. He was extradited early this morning and according to Page Six, was wheeled out of prison in a wheelchair so if he went kicking and screaming, it was probably funny to see.

CNN reports:

Harvey Weinstein was moved early Tuesday morning to California per a court order, the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision confirmed to CNN.

Attorney Norman Effman confirmed to CNN that Weinstein is now in the custody of Los Angeles County and his attorneys anticipate that he will be arraigned on an indictment there Wednesday.

Weinstein, the disgraced former movie producer, faces a total of 11 counts of sexual assault in Los Angeles County involving five women.

Last month, a New York judge approved the extradition to Los Angeles County so that the imprisoned former movie producer can face further sexual assault charges.

He was originally charged in Los Angeles County in January 2020 with sexually assaulting two women in separate incidents over a two-day period in 2013. In April, prosecutors added an additional charge that stems from an alleged incident at a Beverly Hills hotel in May 2010, and in October prosecutors added six new charges.

Harvey had been serving his sentence at a maximum-security prison outside of Buffalo, New York. Page Six reports that Harvey could face up to “another 140 years to life behind bars if convicted.” He reportedly ain’t got but a couple of good teeth left, can’t eat sweets because of the diabetes, and is practically blind. But it’s not like they don’t already have ugly, busted old men in LA! These are the reasons his attorney gave when he argued, unsuccessfully, against Harvey’s extradition. But it’s like, dude, we get it, he’s hideous. But people will deal! LA is not as shallow as people think.
