Georgina Chapman Is Officially Divorced From Harvey Weinstein
Usually, when I see that a person got divorced from their less-than-great partner, the musical theater geek in me immediately starts singing, “I’m gonna wash that man right out of my hair” from South Pacific. But in this case, I guess it would be more appropriate to suggest Georgina Chapman is scrubbing that toxic sludge heap out of her life with a wire brush. Because Georgina is no longer Mrs. Harvey Weinstein, thanks to their divorce being finalized.
45-year-old Georgina Chapman was married to 69-year-old Harvey Weinstein from 2007 until…well, about a week after Harvey was finally exposed as a long-time predator and abuser who allegedly did awful shit to a whole lot of women. Five days after The New York Times published their exposé on Harvey’s alleged decades of abuse, Georgina announced she was splitting from Harvey. That was way back in October 2017, nearly four years ago, and I guess these things take time (“these things” being a legal divorce from a convicted rapist). A judge finalized their divorce last week but kept the details sealed. via TMZ:
Court records confirm the judge signed off on their divorce last week. As we previously reported, the disgraced studio mogul and fashion designer reached a divorce settlement way back in January 2018, which included divvying up their property, and hashing out a custody arrangement for their 2 kids – India and Dashiell. The terms of the deal were confidential.
It was rumored that Georgina could be walking away from her 10-year marriage to Harvey Weinstein with $12 million and whatever horrible secrets she may or may not have stored away in her mental vault during those 10 years. Then later, it was claimed she might be getting $15 million. They reportedly had a prenup in place. Since the settlement details are confidential, we’ll only get to speculate based on clues. Like if Georgina’s current boyfriend Adrien Brody is all of a sudden seen zipping around town in a brand-new sports car with a vanity license plate that reads BARFMONEY.
Georgina didn’t have anything to say publicly about the finalization of her divorce. TMZ reached out to Harvey’s people regarding his second divorce (he was married to his former assistant Eve Chilton from 1987 to 2004, and shares three daughters with her). His rep gave them the following statement, which is pretty delusional:
“Harvey’s only thoughts are happiness for his family and the hope that his children are always cared for and happy. He loves them hopes that they know it, and that one day soon, he can be closer to them.”
It’s delusional because Harvey is currently serving a 23-year sentence for his crimes. And, he’s likely going to be extradited to Los Angeles to face yet another sexual assault trial. So unless his kids emancipate themselves from their mom and decide to move into a 2-bedroom apartment with a prison view, his dreams of being closer to them are about as realistic as a world in which people don’t immediately gag when they hear his name.
