Salma Hayek Says She Almost Died From Coronavirus

While celebs like Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were getting mad support from the world after they came down with COVID-19, there seem to be a lot of other famous people who just had Coronavirus in secret and went on with their lives. This list does not include Gwyneth Paltrow who then started trying to sell you infrared saunas for COVID symptoms–although technically that is the type of shit she does with her life. Now we’ve learned that Queen of BreastsSalma Hayek, had a case of Coronavirus so bad she literally almost died. I don’t think Gwyneth’s sauna blanket will help with that.

54-year-old Salma did an interview with Variety about her work in the upcoming Marvel super-blockbuster, A-list superhero movie, The Eternals, and her soon-to-be-released action/comedy with Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. The movie is a sequel to 2017’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard, in which Salma apparently only appeared for like two minutes. But people just loved her ass and director Patrick Hughes said: “everyone kept telling me they wanted to see and know more about Sonia.” And we got a whole movie about her. And thank god we did, because we actually almost lost Salma, as she revealed for the first time that she had COVID, and it was bad-bad.

“My doctor begged me to go to the hospital because it was so bad,” says Hayek, 54, from the London manse that she shares with her husband, Kering CEO François-Henri Pinault, and their 13-year-old daughter, Valentina. “I said, “No, thank you. I’d rather die at home.””

Hayek spent about seven weeks isolated in a room of the house. At one point, she was put on oxygen. She still hasn’t fully regained the energy she once had.

Well, if I had Salma’s money and was married to a billionaire, I would want to die at home too since “home” is a mansion with a full staff who will hand-feed me truffles and fan me while upping the top-shelf morphine running into my veins through a Gucci-brand IV drip.

Salma also talked about writing about her experience with harassment from Harvey Weinstein–which included him forcing a lesbian sex scene into her film Frida, trying to shower with her, and trying to give her oral sex. Salma said talking about it was:

“Excruciating! That’s why it took me so long. It was so hard because I chose not to be a victim even though I was a victim. I had to convince myself that I’m a fighter and above all else, a survivor. When all this happened with the Harvey story, I didn’t know that it happened to so many women. I went into such a depression for months. It really took an army of women to make me see I was true survivor, and a true fighter.”

After dealing with Harvey Weinstein trying to coerce you into a shower, I see how a lung disease almost killing you is nothing to run to the hospital for.
