Olivia Jade Owns Up To Her White Privilege On “Red Table Talk”

December 8, 2020 / Posted by:

Olivia Jade hopped on Red Table Talk and let Jada Pinkett-Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Jones collect every strand from her weave in an effort to resuscitate her image now that her parents are serving their sentences for paying $500,000 to cheat their daughters’ ways into USC. Since Lori Loughlin will be out for Christmas, I guess Olivia is hoping to give her mom the gift of a social resurrection.

Olivia’s episode of Red Table Talk premiered today on FacebookWatch kicking off her apology tour.

Jada’s mother Adrienne starts off HOT and before Olivia joins the table, she admits she “fought it tooth and nail” and did not want Olivia on the show. She saw it as “ironic that she chose three black women to reach out to for her redemption story.” via UsWeekly

“I feel like here we are: white women coming to black women for support when we don’t get the same from them. It’s bothersome to me on so many levels. Her being here is the epitome of white privilege to me.”

Here’s a clip of that moment:

So Olivia was walking into a scene. Love it. And once Olivia gets to the table, Adrienne gives her so much cut-eye that I’m amazed the girl didn’t leave the table with a bob. At one point, Jada says something like: “Everyone thinks you’ll be fine cause you’re privileged” and without missing a beat, Adrienne says, “I feel that way. I feel like you will be fine.”

Honestly, watch this interview for Adrienne alone. Olivia does explain herself and claims her parents didn’t think they were doing anything illegal:

“We had the means to do something and we completely took it and ran with it. It was something that it was wrong. It really can’t be excused. On paper, it’s bad — it’s really bad. But I think what a lot of people don’t know is my parents came from a place of just, “I love my kids I just want to help my kids — whatever is best for them — I worked my whole life to provide for my family.” I think they thought it was normal.”

Olivia adds that it’s “been hard” with her mom and dad in prison but called it “necessary of us to move on and move forward.” Because of COVID precautions she still has yet to talk to her parents in prison, but she knows her mom has time to reflect.

“There’s a quarantine phase because of COVID. I think that is the reason, but I’m not too sure. I just haven’t heard anything so I’m just waiting… I know she’s strong and I know it’s a good reflection period.”

Olivia says that when she found out about the scandal, she was on Spring Break with all her friends and froze up, leaving the party and hiding herself for “three or four months,” never returning to school because she was “too embarrassed” and “shouldn’t have been there in the first place, clearly.”

Olivia also explains that she was just so privileged she genuinely didn’t even realize she had any privilege, but also says that she’s not just a privileged girl and there’s a lot more to her… or something:

“I feel like a huge part of having privilege is not knowing you have privilege, and so when it was happening, it didn’t feel wrong… I also felt very misunderstood. The picture that has been painted of me, I feel like, is not who I am. I’m not this bratty girl that doesn’t want to change anything. Also, I understand why people are angry and understand why people say hurtful things and I would too if I wasn’t in my boat. … When you read it, you realize that there’s like some truth. I understood that people were upset and angry, and maybe it took me a little bit longer to understand what for, but man, am I glad I did realize… I took my privilege and all my blessings for granted, and I never thought anything of it.”

But through it all, Olivia does not hate her parents and won’t judge them because they loved her so much they wanted to bribe a school official:

“I know they’re good people. I know that I’m not gonna judge them for a mistake they made. Although it’s a big one, they’re gonna pay the price for it. … I know that they’ve struggled.”

Here’s hoping that once Lori Loughlin gets out of prison she decides to do Red Table Talk also. I mean if Adrienne went that hard on Olivia, think what treatment Lori would receive? And I’m guessing Olivia Jade will send this interview to Sephora to prove she’s completely changed and is no longer a privileged brat! So can she have her collab$$$ back now?
