CBS Is Reportedly Panicking Over “The View” Seriously Beating “The Talk” In Ratings

The Talk and The View may seem like similar shows: women from different backgrounds chatting about daily events and bullshit. But The View goes balls deep into politics while The Talk doesn’t and that could be why The View is absolutely thrashing its competition. Page Six says that CBS is in panic mode and insiders say the show is at risk of cancellation after The Talk‘s audience dropped to half that of The View. Speaking as a View viewer, hate-watching Meghan “My Father” McCain is one helluva drug.

Sources say that executives have been worried about The Talk‘s dismal ratings. During coronavirus, The View‘s ratings have grown, reaching 3 million viewers a day. Meanwhile, The Talk has pulled in 1.5 million viewers. One insider has an idea about that and suggested that forcing Marie Osmond off the show was a bad move. Marie only lasted one season and Page Six says that she was ousted by fellow hosts Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood. For unknown reasons, the two women went to executives and said they would quit the series if Marie wasn’t booted. But I know why they did it, they probably watched Music Is Medicine and were morally outraged! As was I! But in turn, the ratings plummeted and now the executives who caved to Sharon and Sheryl are “panicked and frustrated.”

The View has been growing at a huge rate during the COVID lockdown, and The Talk is literally the lowest-rated show in the whole CBS lineup… At one point, The Talk and The View were only 30,000 viewers apart… Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood’s plan of getting rid of Marie Osmond was clearly a mistake in terms of ratings and number of viewers.”

The insider says that this dramatic drop in viewers only spells one thing: disaster. This insider thinks that the show needs a big name (like Oprah or Meghan Markle) to survive.

“Nothing is working. We are now the lowest-rated network program and we can’t get any traction. To lose more than half a million viewers in a year is catastrophic for a daytime show. Unless we can hire Gayle King, Oprah or Meghan Markle, the writing is on the wall.”

But a different CBS insider says that The Talk is totally fine and there’s nothing to see here and there are worse-rated daytime television talk shows, so…

The Talk does better than the other competing syndicated daytime series. [It] is the newest show in the daytime lineup and other shows in the lineup have been on air for decades prior. Show producers and execs are not panicked and the show is not in jeopardy of getting canceled.”

Well, I think we’ll know if the show is really in danger if Sharon starts trying to pull stunts. Don’t be surprised if on the next episode she bites the head off a bat live at the table for publicity.
