Meghan McCain Might Have Left New York To Be With Her Guns In Virginia

That picture of Meghan McCain in “Help, my stylist is in quarantine!” drag is from an episode of The View From Home that aired last week, and in it, Meghan is talking about authenticity and being truthful. Only a little bit ironic, considering that only a few days later she’d be called out by one of her neighbors for allegedly lying about protest damage on Twitter. As it turns out, Meghan might not be able to accurately report on any alleged protest damage, because she’s in Virginia.

So as we learned yesterday, Meghan called out New York City mayor Bill de Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo, because in Meghan’s eyes, they were letting police brutality protesters turn Manhattan into a “war zone.” Meghan was swiftly corrected by Kristen Bartlett, a co-head writer for Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, who lives in Meghan’s building, and explained that their neighborhood is fine. And a source tells Page Six that Meghan isn’t even in the city:

“She isn’t even in the city! She’s in Virginia at a family home because she wanted to be in a place she could keep guns.”

I did a quick check on gun control laws by state and discovered that New York State requires state permits for handgun purchases, firearm registration, an owner license, and a license required for concealed carry. In Virginia, there’s no state permit for firearm purchasing, no firearm registration, no owner license required, and no permit required for open carry (but you do have to have a permit for concealed carry).

Page Six reached out to Meghan’s rep for comment, and they denied that she left Manhattan…for her guns.

McCain’s personal rep told us “it’s absolutely untrue” that McCain left the city for her guns.

Meghan also commented on the situation, and much like her rep, Meghan also kept it a little misleading about the truth of her current whereabouts. But, she did clarify that her original tweet was based on news footage. She also scolded everyone about property damage. I’d say that Meghan should read the room, but we’re not completely sure what room she’s in. Although if she’s where people think she is, she might want to start by reading up on some of the racist laws that are still active in that state).

I’m sure Meghan decided to point out that she’s six months pregnant as a way to point out that it’s a stressful time for her and get sympathy, and that she really doesn’t want to be pseudo-doxxed at the moment. But speaking as a former pregnant person, the only reason to mention pregnancy and property damage right now would be to ask your Twitter followers if they have any advice for how to avoid damaging your downtown business area too much while giving birth (pro tip: You can’t, just go with it, and maybe invest in a peri bottle).
