Olivia Jade Tried Commenting On White Privilege And The Internet Told Her To Stop

20-year-old Olivia Jade really tried it. Now that her parents, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, have pleaded guilty for their role in spending $500,000 on faking some rowing credentials so she and her sister Isabella Rose could get into USC, she must want to refresh her image. Olivia posted various Black Lives Matter-related content on her Instagram and also a long-winded speech about White Privilege. Considering how Olivia escaped to a yacht when her parents were charged for their scheming ways, do you think people appreciated her commentary? They did not.

Olivia Jade has slowly been making her return to social media now that her parents Zoom-called in their guilty pleas. And I mean, once you get a cover of People magazine you’re basically excused for your crimes, right? Olivia wrote in an Instagram story about the state of racism in America. And she admitted that she’s been ignorant to what Black Americans face and declared that white privilege needs to end. via Us Weekly:

“As a person who was born into privilege based on my skin color & financial situation, I was not always aware that these issues were still so present. And that makes me feel awful. But that also fuels me… It makes me want to learn more and do more and be better for all my beautiful black friends and any other person who faces discrimination. I’m not racist and I never have been but I need to speak up about this because just not being racist isn’t enough. It outrages me. It makes me feel sick. It brings me to tears. THERE SHOULD NOT BE SUCH A GAP BETWEEN PEOPLE LIKE THIS. We need to support and stand up and speak and use our WHITE PRIVILEGE TO STOP THIS.”

Here’s a little sampling of the responses to that:

“Her white privilege got her out of trouble.”

“The college admissions scandal contributes to the sense of outrage felt by many who take to the streets and violently protest systemic entitlement, privilege and discrimination, while sweet lil Olivia Jade drops make-up tutorials like nothing happened. Dumb, clueless and tone-deaf.”

This came after Olivia posted a makeup tutorial on May 28, which was during the protests and people also found that tacky:

“You really have no self-awareness… You are embarrassingly tone-deaf and need to legitimately pursue an education.”

A source explained to Us Weekly that Olivia is dead-set on getting back into the prestigious ranks of semi-relevant influencers and is confident she can make her way back:

“Olivia has the mindset that nothing lasts forever and while she knows it will be an uphill battle, she feels much more confident than she did six months ago… [She] knows it’s a slow rebuild and that she’ll have to start from the ground up and be wary of her choices.”

Olivia, the only way you could successfully pivot from being the child of the College Admissions Scandal into an activist is for you to loot your parents’ wallets and donate. But hey, let me give Olivia a little credit, at least she didn’t post a Protest Chic makeup tutorial….yet.
