Billie Eilish Thinks Her Oscar Performance Sucked

It’s not easy singing a Beatles song in front of millions of people while images of (nearly) all the recently deceased celebrities flash behind you––but that’s exactly what 18-year-old meme queen Billie Eilish did at last Sunday’s Oscars.

Some may have thought that Billie was too young and inexperienced to handle such an important job, but she sure proved those boomers wrong by touching up her Manic Panic streak, putting on a Chanel couch slipcover and muttering through a solid rendition of Yesterday––all to a decent smattering of applause.

But Billie wasn’t sold.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, she claims that she was sick on Oscar night (probably residual germs from continually running up on stage at last month’s Grammys and having to hug weird old people just to get her trophies).

“I was sick for all of the Oscars, I bombed that performance…that was trash”.

Not only that, but she also admitted to feeling nervous in a roomful of famous actors she doesn’t know.

“I’m not used to that. At least the Grammys wasn’t as scary because it was, like, artists…And it felt like my people, it felt like, ‘Oh, look, a bunch of artists!’ And I knew a lot of them already and I’d met them, and they knew of me.”

HA! Scorsese who? I’m totally on Team Billie with this one. I only go to events where people know me and give me awards throughout the night, and if they don’t know me, I’m going to put on my best “eh, okay” face when they try to impress me by singing some song that’s, like, almost as old as me (Billie was born in 2001––a year that still feels like it just happened).

Regarding her Oscar performance, Billie has nothing to worry about. It was FAR from trash (and I never speak that highly of people younger than me). Besides, only like 48 people watched the Oscars on TV this year. And in terms of people mumbling confounded nonsense into a microphone, she wasn’t even in the top 10 of the night.
