Rascal, the dog who saved a family from carbon monoxide poisoning!!!!!

Lassie is either filling to the top with pride over her successor, or she’s filling with jealousy over Rascal’s life-saving skills. Dying of carbon monoxide poisoning is one of my nightmares, and sometimes when I’m feeling woozy and out of it while lying on the couch, I’ll perk right up all scared-like… before realizing that I’m probably just stoned. But the Smith family of Zeeland, Michigan never really has to worry about carbon monoxide poisoning again, because they’ve got an adorable carbon monoxide detector in Rascal!

Diane Smith tells WXMI-TV that one day, 13-year-old Rascal was acting like me after reading the description of Harvey Weinstein’s down-low situation: he was dazed and a mess and a glassy-eyed (and I’m not talking about the cataracts), and eventually fell over. They took him to the vet and he checked out fine. When they brought him home, he didn’t seem right again. Diane texted with a friend and told her what was going on. The friend talked to her husband who told Diane to get out of the house because it could be a carbon monoxide leak. Diane didn’t think that was it since their CO detector didn’t go off. But she went outside anyway and suddenly Rascal was okay again.

They soon found out that their furnace was broken and leaking carbon monoxide. RASCAL SAVES LIVES!

The leak wasn’t big enough to set off the CO detector, but it still could’ve done some damage.

And the Smiths are lucky they are humans to a dog, because imagine if they had a cat?! Cut to their cat using its paws to shove towels under the crack doors…
