Trump Claims That He And Oprah Were Practically Besties Back In The Day
It wouldn’t be a Trump rally without some random nutty content dribbling out of the mouth of our Troll-in-Chief in-between all of the hate and lying. At his most recent troll supremacy rally in Louisiana on Friday, Donald Trump managed to note that he and Oprah Winfrey used to be good friends and that “she loved me.” He also brought key lime pie into this which is grounds enough for impeachment nevermind allegedly blackmailing Ukrainian political officials to try and win in 2020.
Trump’s rallies continue to be unscripted, stream-of-consciousness affairs where he can pivot from extremely presidential, well-considered arguments against his enemies focusing on the issues to sharing key lime pie with Oprah at Mar-A-Lago. Let’s take a vote – laugh or cry?
The New York Post reports that Trump claims that Oprah practically lived at Mar-A-Largo back in the day. But it all fell apart when he decided to run for office.
“She used to go to Mar-a-Lago,” Trump said at a rally in Louisiana Friday. “She loved me until I decided to run for office. “
In Trump’s defense (ugh, that hurt to type), they were in the same convention hall together one night in 1988.
In actuality, Trump and Oprah were friendly and in 1999, Trump told Larry King that he’d have her as his running mate if he ever ran for president. Survey says so far: Laugh 51% / Cry 49%.
“I love Oprah,” Trump told CNN’s Larry King. “Oprah would always be my first choice. … I’ll tell ya, she’s really a great woman, though. She is a terrific woman. She’s somebody that’s very special.”
Trump and his ilk appeared on Oprah’s show in 2011, despite their friendship reportedly “souring” after she backed Barack Obama for president in 2008 while Trump tried to prove that Obama wasn’t an American.
Just think – if Oprah was into gay conversion therapy – she could have been our vice-president!
