Beyoncé Was Not Mad At The NBA Finals, And Her Publicist Wants The Hive To Stop Threatening To Kill People, Please
Yesterday we all learned what happens when Beyonce goes to some basketball game. It becomes allabout her. Like, who even won? Who cares (everyone in Toronto except me, but I also love giving in to mob-mentality and enjoying things with people so like I’ll go along with it if there’s a social event)? If Beyoncé is there, expect her to steal the show. And she did, and it also resulted with the Beyhive issues death threats on a woman who talked to Jay-Z. Damn, BeyHive: I knew you’d try to steal the girl’s social security number, but death threats?
So yesterday I was really enjoying a little bit of Beyoncé humor when she started spreading through the internet for her alleged side-eye, shady antics. I come to wake up this morning and find that, like most things on the internet, it’s been taken way too far. How far? Death threat-far. What did she do?! And according to her: nothing. And according to Beyoncé’s publicist: y’all need to chill.
While sitting court side at the Warriors vs. Raptors game at the NBA Finals on Wednesday night, Nicole Curran, the wife of the Warriors owner, slightly leaned over Beyonce to talk to Jay-Z, and some thought Beyonce was throwing shady eyes and was annoyed. The Beyhive, of course, behaved like the reasonable group of sane people they are and immediately went after Nicole. Nicole says she was just taking their drink order.
People reports that ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne spoke with Nicole about it and she gave the 411 on Twitter. Apparently, Nicole was just getting drink orders from Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z because they’re royalty and she knows how to treat royals with no history of inbreeding. The moment she leaned over Beyoncé (who she knew wanted a water) was to find out if Jay-Z wanted lime in his vodka soda. She then woke up to death threats because that’s a reasonable reaction.
Just spoke to Nicole Curran, the wife of Warriors owner Joe Lacob, about the “incident “ with Beyoncé last night. She was in tears. Said she had been getting death threats on social media all night this morning she disabled her IG account just to make it stop.

Curran said she had no idea anything was even amiss until she got home and started seeing texts from friends and checked her social media. She’s invited Jay Z and Beyoncé to the game 3-4 times before. Last night she says she asked if they wanted drinks. Beyoncé asked for water

Curran says Jay Z asked for a vodka soda. She asked if he wanted lime with that. But it was loud in Oracle and she couldn’t hear, so she leaned over. That’s where the photos of Beyoncé looking askance at her come from.

Curran says she then went to go get them those drinks. “There was no hostility. I was trying to be a good hostess,” she said. “I’ve never experienced cyber bullying like this. I can’t believe our players go through this. That kids go through this.“

Beyoncé’s publicist, without mentioning this specific incident, then hopped on Instagram and basically told the Hive to stand the hell down because they were all the way out of hand. But she’s a publicist, so it was all about love and light and self congratulation:
If there was really no drama (which I doubt there was watching the video back you literally see Nicole say, “lime”) then this is not the first time Beyoncé has given side-eye at a basketball game. Maybe it’s time to face the truth that Beyoncé has Resting Bitch Face? Listen: same. And if that’s the case, the Hive is gonna come for a lot of innocents. But I guess we’ll really know the truth when Beyonce eventually releases a surprise EP about this entire mess titled Limeade.
