Carrie Underwood’s Tumble Turned Out To Be More Terrible Than Thought
Back in November, shortly after drawing a lot of hillbilly heat for making Trump jokes while co-hosting the CMA’s, Carrie Underwood reportedly fell down some stairs at her house. The fall was so bad she broke her wrist and had to have surgery. She was also treated for “cuts and abrasions”. Here’s what she had to say about it at the time.
I just wanted let everyone know that I’m doing great. Had surgery on my wrist yesterday & all went well…even though I’ll be setting off airport metal detectors from now on…I’m so thankful for the doctors, nurses, family & friends who’ve been taking such great care of me.

Well as it turns out, according to People, that fall was a little more dramatic than Carrie originally let on. Carrie revealed some more details about her injuries in a post to her fanclub:
“There is also another part of the story that I haven’t been ready to talk about since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up,” she wrote in the note, which has been obtained by PEOPLE. “It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life.
In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [Underwood’s husband] Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”
Normally here’s where I put on my housecoat and slippers and take to the streets ringing my little bell and screaming “high shenanigans” and “plastic surgery gone wrong,” but I don’t know Carrie’s life. I do know that I have never met one person who fell and busted their ass so hard they needed the hospital that wasn’t drunk and or high off their ass. But that’s my life. Twitter has some folks speculating that her hockey playing husband might have cuddled her a little too hard (though People reported he had to fly into town to tend to her the night of the accident so relax people). And, not surprisingly, some meanies are saying it’s MAGA karma for her CMA’s performance.
Carrie warned that although it’s been 7 weeks and she’s had the best care, she’s “not quite looking the same”, which is deliciously dramatic. She says she’s going into the studio next week but wants her fans to know what happened for when she’s ready to get in front of the camera again. Carrie doesn’t want anybody freaking out when she pulls up looking like she and Lil’ Kim share a surgeon.
