Katy Perry Spilled All The Details Of Her Feud With Taylor Swift

Last night Katy Perry appeared in The Late Late Show’s Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden. Katy spent most of her time talking and not singing. The biggest talking point on Katy’s promo tour for her upcoming album Witness has been about her ongoing feud with Taylor Swift. Katy played coy with Jimmy Fallon about whether her latest song Swish Swish is about Taylor Swift, but with James Corden, she gave a detailed statement about her mean girl bully.

When this stupid fight first started back in 2014, Taylor accused Katy of sabotaging her arena tour by hiring dancers out from under her. Katy later said she wasn’t going to let anyone (Taylor) “defame” her character. James Corden asked about the “Taylor beef” (which sounds like a dry sandwich from a country club). Katy was more than happy to get into the “petty bullshit.

“That’s true, there’s a situation. Honestly, it’s really like – she started it, and it’s time for her to finish it. This is what happened. It’s about backing dancers. It’s so crazy! Okay, so there’s three backing dancers that went on tour with her tour. And they asked me before they went on tour if they could go, and I was like, ‘Yeah, of course. I’m not on a record cycle, and get the work, and she’s great and all that. But I will be on record cycle in probably about a year. So be sure to put a 30-day contingency in your contract so you can get out if you want to join me when I say I’m going back on.’

So that year came up, and I texted all of them because I’m very close with them, and I said, ‘Look, just FYI, I’m about to start and I want to put the word out there.’ And they said, ‘Okay, we’re going to go and talk to management about it.’ And they did, and they got fired. And I tried to talk to her about it, and she wouldn’t speak to me. I do the right thing any time that it feels like a fumble. It was a full shut-down, and then she writes a song about me, and I’m like, ‘Okay cool cool cool, that’s how you wanna deal with it?’ Karma.

But what I wanna say is, I’m ready for that BS to be done. Now – there is the law of cause and effect. You do something, and there’s going to be a reaction. And trust me daddy, there’s going to be a reaction…I think, personally, women together, not divided, and none of this petty bullshit, women together will heal the world.”

James Corden asked Katy if the beef would be “off the grill” if Taylor were to text her and make peace, and Katy said it would. Oh James, how naive and sweet of you to think it would end that way. Katy and Taylor are going to keep hating on each other until they’re playing the casino circuit in 2057. And then, if they’re feeling generous (aka if they need the attention), they’ll reunite on the main stage at Caesar’s for a big dramatic fake fight that will lead to the launch of a two-disc friendship duet album. Don’t miss Can You Believe How Long (We Dragged This Out), coming several decades from now!
