Natalie Morales Denies That She’s Running Off To L.A. Because Of Matt Lauer’s Peen

Because there’s a part of me that’s a retired grandma named Nana Jean who still subscribes to Reader’s Digest and drinks her morning Sanka with a nip of Bailey’s, I watch every hour of Today every single weekday. Natalie Morales has been my favorite for a while and she’s one of the few on there who doesn’t either make me fall asleep or roll my eyes out of their sockets. So I was not amused when I learned that Natalie and Alfred E. Neuman’s insufferable brother Billy Bush are switching gigs. Natalie has moved to California to takeover Access Hollywood and Billy Bush has moved to NYC to join Today. After I did the wall slide of sadness over the news, I did wonder if the rumors about Matt Lauer and Natalie had something to do with it. Apparently, people at NBC wondered the same thing.

For years, there’s been rumors that bald bag of glibness Matt Lauer and Natalie Morales have been having an affair. There was also a crazy rumor from The National Enquirer that Matt is the biological father of Natalie’s youngest son. A source tells Page Six that the rumors haven’t died and some believe those rumors had something to do with Natalie moving:

“There’s speculation it’s one of the reasons why she’s moving . . . Matt didn’t want to work with her. There’s an awkwardness between Matt and Natalie . . . He protected her for a long time and now it seems like something has gone awry.”

But Matt, Natalie and an executive at Today are all spitting on that rumor. Natalie’s husband works in California and she was ready for a change, so it just made sense for her to move to L.A. Natalie gave this statement to Page Six:

“There is absolutely no truth to this completely absurd story. It is damaging, hurtful and extremely sexist. I have proven myself in all aspects of my job as a news professional and journalist, and am adding to my role, taking on three jobs with ‘Access Hollywood Live’ and ‘Access Hollywood,’ in addition to ‘Today.’ This move was dictated by me and my desire to grow in my career. Any insinuations beyond that are uninformed.”

Okay, I know that Today is a pile of useless fluff with a sprinkling of “real news,” but I don’t see how going to Access Hollywood is an upgrade. At Access Hollywood, her biggest scoop will be an interview with Chewbacca Mom. Although, now that I think about it, I’d much rather interview Chewbacca Mom than awkwardly talk about Syria with Matt Lauer for 5 seconds.

And now that Natalie and Matt are on different coasts, I can’t wait for the affair rumors about him and Billy Bush to spring up. Billy redefines the meaning of “smug” with every facial expression he makes and so does Matt, so they’re probably going to bump heads (wink wink) and will eventually hump away the sexual tension.
