Open Post: Hosted By The Weeknd Getting Dragged For A Scene In “The Idol”

Correction: He’s getting dragged for EVERY scene in The Idol.

Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Euphoria‘s Sam Levinson‘s alleged “torture porn fantasy” has been streaming on Max for two weeks now, and people are not really reacting the way I think they wanted. The show stars Lily-Rose Depp as a troubled pop star who, after the death of her mother, falls in with a sleazy “guru” played by Abel. After scrapping the initial version of the show, which allegedly leaned too far into the “female perspective,” and filming expensive reshoots, the show premiered to mostly negative reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, it’s currently sitting at a whopping 26%. And after the second episode aired this past weekend, people, who are still watching it, say they have “lost respect” for Abel entirely.

The latest episode of The Idol featured Lily’s character rubbing an ice cube-filled cup on her crotch, as well as Abel’s character commanding her sexually, including the line: “Fucking stretch that tight little pussy.” Well, it’s clear that writers Sam, Abel, and Reza Fahim want this series to at least have the same dialogue quality as a non-DVD-release porn video from the early 2000s. What a treat for us as viewers! And this type of content got the reaction I would expect it would. via Page Six:

“I will never see the weeknd the same after this #theidol,” tweeted one viewer. “The Weeknd is such a pervert omg,” tweeted another. “I really need Abel to get dragged for this nasty scene in The Idol,” commented another. Another went so far as to say she had “lost respect” for the Blinding Lights singer.

“someone put the entire sex scene from the idol and.. let’s just say I lost respect for the weeknd,” the user tweeted. “I’m sorry I don’t care what you do but doing it on tv especially GRAPHICALLY is weird.”

Those are some real dance moves right there. I mean, what? I don’t know if Lily tried out for that scrapped Madonna biopic, but she definitely would not have survived the boot camp with these moves.
