Selena Gomez Had Something To Say About The Criticism Over Her Allegedly Snubbing Her Kidney Donor Francia Raísa
In 2017, Selena Gomez needed a kidney transplant due to her struggle with lupus. Her friend, Francia Raísa, ended up being a match and selflessly donated one of her kidneys. This could have been a wholesome and heartwarming Hollywood tale of sacrifice and enduring friendship, but it appears as though things between the two may have soured. Selena’s recently been entangled in a couple of possibly imaginary, one-sided conflicts, first with Hailey Bieber and then with Britney Spears. And it looks like Francia might be a new addition to the “Selena Sux Club.” Because after Selena said in a Rolling Stone interview that Taylor Swift is her “only friend in the industry,” Francia, who’s an actress, took offense in the comment section of an Instagram post about it. And in return, Selena seemed to respond with the same amount of fucks as the number of her songs I can listen to in their entirety: zero.
In the Rolling Stone issue where the drama began, Selena talked about how she doesn’t run with the popular celebrity girl crowd, and her only friend in the biz is that unassuming up-and-comer, Taylor Swift.
In Gomez’s Rolling Stone cover story, which dropped on Thursday, November 3, the “Ice Cream” singer spoke about her tight-knit inner circle. “I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong,” she said.
Francia, (who, if not for donating a kidney to Selena, I would’ve assumed was a boxed wine) seemed pissed at Selena for not mentioning her as a member of the “cool group of girls that were celebrities” and commented (but since deleted) on an E! News post about the Rolling Stone piece. She also no longer follows Selena on Instagram.
When the quote was highlighted via Instagram, Raisa, 34, commented on a post writing, “Interesting.” However, the comment was seemingly deleted. Fans also noticed that the How I Met Your Father star is not following Gomez on Instagram–the ultimate signal of an ended friendship.
Raisa and Gomez have been friends for 15 years. They first met in 2007 while visiting a children’s hospital together, and a decade later, Raisa donated her kidney to the Disney Channel alum.

Selena, probably exasperated with all of the shit that “girls that are celebrities” have been tossing her way these days, brushed it off with a sarcastic comment.
“Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know,” Gomez, 30, commented via TikTok on a clip of Stephanie Tleiji (@stephwithdadeets) explaining the perceived drama.

Ouch. Ok, but most people would probably remember to pay homage to the person who gave them one of their body parts–unless Selena doesn’t consider Francia a friend OR a celebrity, which is an added insult. Selena also didn’t have anything to say about Francia’s kidney in her new documentary, My Mind and Me. It’s worth mentioning that both of these women are now in their 30s, so it’s time to put the public friendship and clique dramatics to rest already because they’re tired. However, if Barney wants to step up in his upcoming docuseries with some piping hot tea about how he ended his friendship with his former costar, Selena, because she was an ungrateful circle time farter who wouldn’t accept him into her posse because he wasn’t a “cool” enough celebrity, I’m listening.
