Duncan Hines’ Grape Bubblegum Frosting!

If you’re the kind of person who thinks that grape bubblegum is delicious and you’ve swallowed many pieces of grape bubblegum because of that, then you’re a freak, you’ve probably got a field of grape bubblegum carcasses at the bottom of your stomach, and you’re definitely still crying mournful tears over Duncan Hines’ short-lived grape bubblegum-flavored frosting from the 90s. Yes, that mess came out in the 90s, not the era of pure foolery known as the 80s. The 80s should be ashamed of itself for that!

In 1994, Duncan Hines’ Creamy Homestyle Frosting line dropped two new flavors into mouths: Grape Bubblegum and Berry Blue. I completely forgot that Duncan Hines thought creamy grape bubblegum frosting sounded like a good thing until I was reminded about it while visiting one of the internet’s retro fuckery museums known as the nostalgia subReddit. But it did exist for a minute in the 90s and here’s a little commercial for it:

As gross as that sounds, if a tub of Duncan Hines grape bubblegum frosting was ever allowed into my house as a child, I probably would’ve become Little Chrissy from Pecker on roids and swallowed the entire thing in one second before falling into a stage 10 sugar coma. And I’m sure there are some people who had that mess back in the day and still miss it. Those people have probably grossed out their family plenty of times by making their own grape bubblegum frosting by mixing desperation, sticks of butter, and Dimetapp.
