Shaq Once Again Suggests The Earth Is Flat And Questions If It Even Spins

Here we go again! Back in 2017, Shaquille O’Neal, bravely came forward to wonder: Is the Earth the only non-spherical, flat planet in the observable universe? Definitely not. There are satellites, we’ve been up there (“No, we haven’t!” shouted Steph Curry). But Shaq is not convinced, and he also challenges whether or not the Earth is really spinning. Shaq wonders this because he’s never seen the lake he lives near “rotate to the left or right.” Not since Isaac Newton discovered gravity through an apple have we seen such insightful and important advances!

During a podcast interview in March 2017, Shaq actually took his flat-Earth comments back and claimed he was only joking, saying: “Would you like to hear my theory? The first part of the theory is, I’m joking, you idiots.” Well, maybe he should look in a mirror before he tosses the word “idiots” around so carelessly because Flat-Earth Shaq is back, baby! People says that during an appearance on Australia’s The Kyle & Jackie O Show on Tuesday, Shaq brought his “theory” to the table:

“It’s a theory,” O’Neal told co-hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson. “It’s just a theory, they teach us a lot of things.” The athlete further explained his thoughts, using his recent flight from the U.S. to Australia as an example. “I flew 20 hours today, not once did I go this way,” he said, gesturing his arm diagonally. “I flew straight.”He went on to note that he “didn’t tip over” or “go upside down” during the flight.

Sandilands then asked how someone could travel to the other side of the world in different directions. “It’s still a straight line,” O’Neal replied, “you don’t go under.”

“It’s just a theory,” he said again. “It’s a conspiracy theory.”

But it’s not just that the Earth is flat, he also wonders if it even spins. Why? Because the water in his pool doesn’t fly around! So how can the Earth be moving?! DUH!

Also in the interview, O’Neal shared his doubts on if the Earth actually spins.

“You know they say the world is spinning? I’ve been living on a house on a lake for 30 years, not once did the lake rotate to the left or right,” he told the hosts.

“If we’re spinning so fast, why are we dizzy?” Sandilands responded. “I don’t get that either.”

O’Neal agreed. “I like listening to theories,” he said. “It’s not about figuring them out, or he’s wrong or he’s right — it’s just a theory.”

Of course, scientists would argue otherwise, researchers long determining that the Earth is round and that it rotates in the solar system around the Sun. According to News Scientist, the Earth spins at around 1037 miles per hour (1,670 km/h).

Why aren’t we dizzy?! Lord. Here’s a quick 2-minute video on why we don’t notice we’re spinning on Earth:

I think that Shaq’s scientific conspiracy theories should take a time out. He should maybe spend a little less time on Reddit threads talking about flat-Earth and more time walking around jewelry stores paying for poor people’s diamonds. Now that’s a real contribution to society.
