Madonna Was Blocked From Going On Instagram Live

Yesterday Madonna announced that she’d be going on Instagram Live later that evening. The 63-year-old Bratz Doll SEXagenerian was planning a live chat with Sickick, a DJ she collaborated with on her latest “Frozen” remix, “Frozen on Fire”. All the Madonna die-hards cleared their very busy schedules, busted out the rosé, and took their landlines off the hook. But when 8 pm PT/11 pm EST rolled around, Madonna and Sickick were nowhere to be found. A couple of hours later, Madonna posted some videos explaining the situation: she wasn’t flaky, she was blocked! Instagram wouldn’t let her go live. Censorship! Suppression! Thought control! Quick, call up Diablo Cody (maybe) so we can add this latest injustice to Madge’s biopic!

The video Madonna posted early this morning shows her and her sycophants team attempting to live record in front of an abstract portrait of Shrek. When they click the camera button, they get a pop-up that says, Blocked from Sharing Live Video.” Underneath that is a message that explains some of Madonna’s posts have been removed for going against Instagram’s Community Guidelines, so she’s been temporarily blocked from going live.

Madonna looks shocked (or maybe that’s just from the blow-up doll filter) and asks, “What’s happening? I’ve never worn so many clothes in my life!” One team member clicks “Learn more,” scrolls through Instagram’s guidelines, and reads a section out loud, “And this is the best part: ‘We want Instagram to continue to be an authentic and safe place for inspiration and expression.’” Madonna responds, “I’m speechless”:

Madonna added more footage of BlockGate to her Stories. This video shows her calling Sickick and explaining what happened. Madge says, “it’s like bureaucracy inside of a computer.” She adds that she doesn’t think she’s posted “anything crazy” on Instagram. “Not this week anyways.” Then Madonna speculates that perhaps it’s a delayed reaction to her NFTs from the week before. She recently released an NSFW NFT collection (because of course she did) called “Mother of Creation.” It depicts a 3D version of Madonna growing nature out of her vagina.

Here’s Madonna chatting with Sickick, who always wears a mask because he’s a super cool DJ and that’s what super cool DJs do:

This ain’t the first time Madonna’s been censored by Instagram. Back in November, around Thanksgiving, she called out the app for taking down photos that showed her nipple. She said the “censorship…… sexism……ageism and misogyny” she’d experienced in her career was perfectly timed with “the lies we have been raised to believe” about the pilgrims breaking bread with “the Native American Indians when they landed on Plymouth Rock!” So far Madonna hasn’t compared getting blocked from Live to the genocide of Native Americans, but give her a few more hours: “I can relate to Native Americans, because I, too, have had my voice and culture stolen!”
