“Spider-Man” Producer, Amy Pascal, Says She Warned Tom Holland And Zendaya From Dating Each Other

Short King, Tom Holland, is only 25-years-old and he’s already ready to take time off from work and start a family. It probably helps that he’s dating 25-year-old Zendaya who is at least guaranteed more than seven minutes of work in the next Dune movie, so she can sustain them financially. JK, but these two follow in the footsteps of like every pairing of Spider-Man co-stars ever in that they met on set and started dating and are now a power couple. But that almost wasn’t the case, as a producer of the series, Amy Pascal, recently revealed that she initially warned both Tom and Zendaya from dating each other. But clearly, she doesn’t know that the fans are thirsty for pictures of hot people kissing each other so you should never tell two celebrities to not bump down-low parts.

Amy is a cock-block, or at least almost was, as she admits in her interview with the New York Times about Spider-Man: No Way Home. Amy says in the interview that she went to both Tom and Zendaya and warned them of what happens when two people date and then break up and then have to keep working together. The advice of course went unheeded, and this wasn’t even the first time she gave it, as Amy told the same thing to Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone who played Spider-Man and his love interest, Gwen Stacy, in the previous iteration of the series. They dated for four years before breaking up in 2015. And before them, original live-action Spider-Man, Tobery Maguire, dated his love interest from the movie, Kirsten Dunst–although they broke up by the second movie. via E! News:

“I took Tom and Zendaya aside, separately, when we first cast them and gave them a lecture,” Pascal said. “Don’t go there—just don’t. Try not to.”The recent trilogy producer and former Sony executive, who also oversaw the first five Spider-Man films, added that Tom and Zendaya weren’t the first leading actors she’d tried to lecture against coupling up either.

“I gave the same advice to Andrew [Garfield] and Emma [Stone],” she explained. “It can just complicate things, you know?”

But despite her cautioning, she revealed that the stars all came to the same conclusion, adding, “They all ignored me.”

These people’s publicists must be reading about Amy like: “Bitch, are you crazy!? Stop trying to stop us from getting some easy publicity from some date night paparazzi shots!” Not that they even need to be dating to be pulling in attention. Box Office Mojo says that at this weekend’s box office, Spider-Man: No Way Home made $253 million in North America and $334.2 million overseas for a total of $587.2 million. It’s the third-biggest global debut of all time. Guess who beat it? That’s right, Marvel’s two most recent Avengers movies.

It was foolish of Amy to think she could stop two famous people from dating. Like hot rich people aren’t attracted to each other? The day celebrities stop shitting where they eat (AKA dating at work) is the day that celebrity divorce statistics take a dramatic turn. This means: it’s never gonna happen.
