Lena Dunham’s Wedding Was Featured In Vogue And Taylor Swift Was A Bridesmaid

Since Lena Dunham usually shares a lot of her private moments on Instagram, one might have thought that her recent marriage to musician Luis Felder was a simple affair given the lack of coverage on her page. Not so! In fact, it was a big to-do and was covered in the pages of Vogue. The bride wore three separate custom gowns by her friend Christoper Kane and the groom wore his fishiest fisherman’s sweater, the one with the good holes! Oh, and Taylor Swift (pictured above with Lena in an old pic) was a bridesmaid. Lord knows you can’t have what Vogue describes as a “whimsical, whirlwind London wedding” without Taylor Swift catching wind.

Here’s a look at Lena and Luis’ Yoko Ono and John Lennon-inspired nuptials. So rest assured — No combs, hair, or lint brushes were harmed during this production. To misquote Dolly Parton, “it takes a lot of money to look this poor.

I’m being unfair to Luis, he only wore the holey sweater for the first part of the festivities as all the bridesmaids, including Taylor and Tommy Dorfman, were getting their hair and makeup done while decked out in matching dresses from The Vampire’s Wife.

For the ceremony, which took place at Soho’s Union Club last Saturday, Luis wore a custom suede suit. Vogue reports that Luis proposed to Lena in the most romantic location in all of England. A hospital!

“Lu, how did we get engaged?” Lena Dunham calls to her husband of three days across the room in Somerset, England, where they are taking a brief honeymoon after getting married in London last Saturday night.

“Well, you were not feeling well, and I asked to visit you in the hospital, and I stayed longer than I was supposed to stay. And I just thought, that left me with a funny feeling seeing you not feeling well. And then the next day when you got back, we were in bed, and I said, ‘I just I don’t ever want you to go through that on your own again.’ And you said, ‘Oh, I want to marry you someday.’ And I said, ‘Why don’t we make that someday, soon day? The next day, I went for a walk with my friend Tom, and he was going on about his life, and I was like, ‘I think I proposed to Lena last night.’ And when I got home, we made it real.”

Lena says they then immediately got to work on the challenge of putting on a wedding in the middle of a pandemic. Of her hair and makeup she said:

Christopher sent Ken and Amanda a Claudia Schiffer–on–the–Versace–runway reference for my hair and makeup. It was a light lip, cat-eye, lots of lashes, and then this bow in her hair. The only thing I truly knew I wanted was to have a bow on top of my head. I added some Pattie Boyd references from her wedding to George Harrison, and then I added some Sharon Tate references as well. She had the best wedding dress in history.

You know what they say, the only thing more romantic than a hospital is a wedding dress worn by a murdered woman who married a child rapist! Here are some more of Lena’s many looks of the night.

All that glossy coverage and Lena has only shared one photo on her personal Instagram page.

Given that this must be her favorite shot, I have to assume the smudged eye makeup was an aesthetic choice and not something she’s just now been made aware of after going through her pictures like how I found out that my bra was showing the whole time when I got married. If not, I guess that means Lena’s bridesmaid’s #SquadGoals were sabotage.
