Angelina Jolie’s Lawyers Have Accused Brad Pitt Of Using Fame To Win Their Custody Battle, And He’s Suing Her Over Wine Shares

Brad Pitt is many things: Oscar-winning actor, A-list celebrity for more than three decades, two-time People Magazine Sexiest Man Alive. Brad Pitt doesn’t have to try to make people starstruck. And yet, according to his ex-wife Angelina Jolie and her legal team, Brad has gone into full-blown Brad Pitt: Superstar mode in an attempt to get his way with the court system handling their custody case. But it’s not all Bad Guy Brad at the moment. His legal team has also been doing some finger-pointing of their own, and joining Bad Guy Brad is Sneaky Snake Angelina. Brad’s team filed a lawsuit against Angelina yesterday, alleging that she and her business partners have been scheming to cut him out of a lucrative sale of their Château Miraval shares. And all this in the same week as the five-year anniversary of the day Angelina Jolie filed for divorce.

Brad and Angelina may legally be divorced, but they still have things to fight over, and wow are they ever going for it. They’re still fighting over custody of five of their children and which judge should preside over their case. Angelina’s team was able to get Judge John Ouderkirk removed from the custody case over his professional relationship with Brad’s lawyers, but Brad has asked the California Supreme Court to take a look at the ruling and consider reversing it. Angelina’s attorneys have responded and they’re accusing Brad of trying to pull a move that only Brad Pitt could pull. via Page Six:

Jolie’s legal team retaliated and in court papers seen by Page Six, they stated: “This sort of gamesmanship, a last-ditch effort by a celebrity litigant seeking special treatment, is not what this Court’s limited review resources are for. There is nothing to see or review here. There is no issue meeting this Court’s rigorous standards for, or worthy of, review.”

I’m pretty sure “special treatment” is the number one benefit of being a celebrity, so it’s not like Angelina has pulled back the curtain on Brad’s nefarious plan here. As for said plan, Angelina makes it sound like Brad walked those papers down to the courthouse himself, batted his eyelashes, and slid the papers across the desk with an autographed 8×10 headshot and a lock of his hair. And when that didn’t work, he offered to remove his shirt and asked if they wanted to touch his abs. I’m on eBay quite frequently, and I don’t remember seeing a listing this week featuring a lock of hair, a headshot, and a tissue soaked in a hunk’s abdominal sweat.

On top of fighting over Judge Ourderkirk’s removal, they’re still fighting over their winery. In the summer we learned that Angelina really wanted to unload her ownership of Château Miraval, the French vineyard that she purchased with Brad back in 2011 for a reported $67 million. She wanted to sell her ownership shares to Brad, but they could never come to an agreement on a price, so Angelina got a third-party buyer involved. It sounded like a done deal, except!!! Brad thinks Angelina might be pulling some shady shit to make a sneaky profit from this sale. So, he’s gone ahead and sued her over it. via Us Weekly:

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, [Brad] originally held 60 percent of Quimicum, the company that owns the chateau, while Jolie held 40 percent. He later transferred [10%] of his shares to the Eternals star, making them equal partners in Quimicum.

“It is worth mentioning that, for the last four years, Nouvel [Jolie’s company] did not act in the best interest of Quimicum by systematically delaying the approval of the annual accounts and the renewal of the manager.”

Château Miraval is reportedly worth $164 million. A source tells Us Weekly that Angelina is trying to “circumvent rules and avoid obligations,” and that it’s upsetting because Brad was the one who “did all of the work” on Château Miraval. The Daily Mail adds according to the lawsuit, which was filed in Luxembourg, the 10% transfer is technically void because shares were sold for only 1 Euro and not a “serious” amount as required by Luxembourg law (Château Miraval is owned by a private company from Luxembourg). Brad and Angelina were married at the time, so naturally, the €1 sale was just a formality. But now Angelina will be able to make some money off that 10% that only cost her a Euro, and he’s mad about that.

I think Angelina was right when she accused Brad of being a celebrity looking for special treatment. Because if Brad was a regular ol’ plaintiff on Judge Judy, he’d be quickly reminded by Judge Judy herself that a gift is a gift, and if he’s dumb enough to sell his wine shares for the equivalent of $1.17, then he deserves to walk away with 10% less profit. Although to be fair, if they were regular people looking to Judge Judy to solve their booze-based problem, they’d be fighting over who is entitled to get the Jimmy Buffet Margarita Machine.
