Angelina Jolie Really Wants To Sell Her Ownership In Chateau Miraval

In May, Brad Pitt won temporary joint custody of all members of the Child Army, except for 19-year-old Maddox Jolie-Pitt who is no longer a minor. Angelina Jolie vowed to continue to fight Brad on that since she feels she was denied a fair trial and is pissed that her children were not allowed to testify about their father’s alleged abuse. Well, Angie has taken a little break from fighting him over custody and has filed papers regarding their French wine vineyard Chateau Miraval. When I first heard that Angelina brought Chateau Miraval into their legal fight again, I figured she wanted complete control of it and we’d soon hear that the place went up in flames from these two busting out a War of the Roses-style fight (War of the Rosé) inside of it. But Angelina actually wants the opposite of that. She wants to be rid of her ownership in that pank wine-making factory!

In 2008, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie signed a three-year lease on Chateau Miraval. They reportedly bought it in 2011 for $67 million. They got married there in 2014. Miraval mostly makes rosé, but they also make olive oil. And it seems like Brad is more into it than Angelina. So it makes sense that Angelina wants out of the business. The Blast says that in court papers, Angelina claims that she’s tried to sell Brad her part of the business for years, but guess what, they couldn’t come to an agreement on the price. Brad and Angelina not being able to work something out? NEVAH! Since she couldn’t make a deal with Brad, Angelina found a third party who has agreed to buy her out. But the problem is that an automatic temporary restraining order (ATRO) was put on the transfer of assets when they filed for divorce. St. Angie wants the court to lift the ATRO so she can complete the deal with the new buyer. via TMZ:

The actress just filed docs asking a judge to lift a restraining order on the transfer of their assets, which was put in place automatically when their divorce paperwork got underway. The asset she’s particularly interested in unloading is Nouvel, LLC, their French winery company.

It’s a standard thing courts do in cases like these, but now Angie’s saying she needs the freeze removed immediately so she can sell her portion of the biz to a third party … a deal that’s apparently on the table, but needs the barrier removed to go through.

According to Angelina’s lawyers, they have tried to work this out with Brad’s side to avoid a formal hearing, but Brad’s side hasn’t gotten back to them. Angie is afraid that if she doesn’t complete this deal soon, the new buyer will back out.

Us Weekly adds that Angelina claims in court papers that Chateau Miraval was solely hers to begin with because she bought it before they got married. She’s actually been trying to unload her part of Chateau Miraval for a while. On June 30, the judge shot down her request to lift the ATRO because her lawyers did not prove that there’s “immediate danger/irreparable harm or immediate loss/damage to property.” She’s trying again and has requested a hearing for September 22. That’s when she plans to ask the judge to lift the ATRO already.

“After all these years of trying to extricate herself from being business partners with her ex-husband on acceptable financial terms, Ms. Jolie is extremely desirous of closing the pending agreement for the sale of Nouvel, LLC, and requests that the Court issue an order lifting the ATROs and specifying that they shall not apply to Ms. Jolie’s sale of Nouvel, LLC,” read a declaration filed by her attorney.

These two, I swear. From fighting over children to fighting over wine. Wine doesn’t deserve this! But if Angelina really wants to stick it to Brad, she should use Chateau Miraval to host a screening of some of her movies, like By The Sea, The Tourist, and Life or Something Like It. All of the wine grapes would shrivel up and die from being exposed to all that awfulness and the value of the place would plummet! That’ll show Brad.
