David Schwimmer Denies That He And Jennifer Aniston Have Something Going On

Friends fans were given the type of internet rumor this week that probably caused them to faint, cry, reach for a brown paper bag to breathe into, or shriek, “HE REALLY IS HER LOBSTER!“. A few months after admitting on HBO’s Friends reunion special that they both had crushes on each other while filming, UK tabloid Closer claimed that Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer had finally gotten together in real life. So I guess David Schwimmer got vaccinated then. But David Schwimmer himself denies it.

Sources told Closer that David and Jennifer got close after filming the Friends reunion, that texting turned into a visit, and that he had been spending time at her house, eating food that she made. Honestly, the most obvious lie here is that a very rich woman like Jennifer Aniston cooks food, and doesn’t ring a tiny brass bell from the side of her infinity pool to summon an assistant that brings her an iPhone specifically used to order Uber Eats. The rumor was that Ross and Rachel were becoming a thing in real life, with help from Jen’s kitchen, and a romantic trip to a vineyard. A source said:

“They’ve been spending time at Jen’s home, where she’s cooked dinners in the evenings, and have enjoyed quality time together, chatting and laughing. They were also spotted drinking wine, deep in conversation, as they walked around one of Jen’s favourite vineyards in Santa Barbara, where it was clear there was lots of chemistry between them.”

Some fans also thought David, who lives in New York City, and Jennifer, who is based in Los Angeles, were getting flirty with each other on Instagram earlier this month when they both posed in some very Ross and Rachel-specific Friends merch. Naturally, the internet freaked out over this news:

I’m sure fans are working out the numerology in both David and Jennifer’s names, birth dates, and star signs, to prove without a shadow of a doubt that these two are pivoting each other’s couches. But they need to save their energy and pencil lead, it’s not happening. via The Sun:

A source recently claimed to Closer magazine: “After the reunion, it became clear that reminiscing over the past had stirred up feelings for both of them and that chemistry they’d always had to bury was still there.”

However, a rep for 54-year-old David has said that there is “no truth” to the rumors of a romance.

David Schwimmer was married to artist Zöe Buckman from 2010 to 2017. Less than a year after they announced they were calling it quits, Jennifer Aniston split from her second husband Justin Theroux. Some Friends fans might believe that David and Jennifer split around the same time because they’re soulmates who realized that they needed to be together, but that they wanted to wait until after the Friends reunion was filmed. But what about the people who believe Jennifer Aniston is destined to be with her other soulmate, Brad Pitt? Who stole who away from who? How will they choose who wins this battle? It’s a good thing Kitson went out of business because nobody needs this situation immortalized on TEAM PITT and TEAM SCHWIMMER t-shirts.
