Apparently There’s An NC-17 Cut Of “Mrs. Doubtfire” And The People Want It Released
Keep your Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, and Death to Smoochy. The best Robin Williams movie is undoubtedly Mrs. Doubtfire. And according to a viral tweet, there are super filthy versions of the PG-13 classic. The Twitter account Film Facts says that Robin Williams improvised so much during filming that editors created PG, PG-13, R, and NC-17 cuts of the movie. This news has fans pleading with Hollywood to release the dirty Doubtfires. Wait, does this mean there’s also a butthole version?
Here are some Twitter reactions from Doubtfire fans:

I would give anything for unreleased footage from MRS. DOUBTFIRE, not because it needs an R or NC-17 cut, but because I miss Robin.

I am WAY more interested in the NC-17 Mrs Doubtfire cut than the Snyder Cut https://t.co/xIdeM3L1kB

Rumors of an edgier cut of the film have been swirling for years. In 2017, Mara Wilson, who played Robin’s youngest daughter, said it might actually exist (via MovieWeb):
“I don’t know about NC-17, but with some of the things he said, I’m sure there was probably an R [rated] cut somewhere,” Wilson said.
But Mara realizes there might be a lot she didn’t know about because Robin did his best to keep things clean when the kids were on set:
“He was very respectful around me. He had kids himself and obviously he’s known for some of his blue material; he didn’t do that around us… But he was hilarious, he did all sorts of crazy funny stuff with us all the time, too. We had a lot of fun.”
Awww, now I’m getting all nostalgic for Robin. What a mensch!
A reminder that Fox announced were gonna make a sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire. Both Robin and director Christopher Columbus were set to return, and David Berenbaum, who wrote Elf, had already begun writing the script. But just a few months after the 2014 announcement, Robin died. So, obviously, plans were scrapped.
I watched some YouTube clips of the movie while writing this post, and they’ve put me in the good mood. So here’s me paying it forward for you on this Friday afternoon… and yeah, this shit could be improved with more swears and tits.
