Justin Timberlake Issued An Apology To Britney Spears And Janet Jackson

Justin Timberlake waited until he was good and rich (and had a movie to promote) before hopping on his Notes App and banging out a public apology to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson for times he “contributed to the problem.” What problem? Unclear. His publicist needed it done like yesterday, so no time for specifics this round. But in the apology that Justin recently posted on Instagram, he promises to do better. And considering how low the bar is for Justin, he could just mean next time he’ll pick a fun font for his next apology which should be for his crimes against fashion (1995-present).

After ignoring all the boos and hisses we’ve thrown his way for DECADES, Justin has finally “seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns,” largely thanks, I’m sure, to the documentary The New York Times Presents Framing Britney which includesan old interview when Timberlake spoke about sleeping with his former girlfriend and indicated that he ridiculed her by hiring a look-a-like for his ‘Cry Me a River’ music video.” The doc also accuses Justin of using Britney to launch his solo career, via Junkee:

For example, during his infamous Barbara Walters interview, Justin Timberlake bursts out laughing when asked if Britney had “kept her promise to wait until marriage”. And most notably, instead of just easily avoiding the topic during a radio interview when talk of Britney’s virginity came up, Justin decided to just directly answer the question on everyone’s lips: “Did you fuck Britney Spears?” “Okay, I did it,” he proudly shared.

Add that to another Super Bowl Half-Time show reminding everybody of how after 2004’s Nipplegate, Justin thrived and played coy while Janet was blackballed and her career was decimated.

One thing to know about Justin is you’re not going to get him to address any of his past behavior without applying sustained pressure at the exact same time he has a big project coming out. When Justin last commented on his treatment of Janet and his handling of the Nipplegate aftermath, he was doing promotion for Man of The Woods and his 2018 Super Bowl Half-Time performance. Just like he didn’t comment on getting caught with his hands in the cookie jar with his Palmer co-star until his wife Jessica Beil made him do it. The AP knows what’s good.

The #FreeBritney hashtag has trended heavily in the last week, with celebrities backing Spears, including Paris Hilton, Miley Cyrus, Bette Midler and more.

Jackson was also a trending topic around the 2018 Super Bowl and after, with the hashtags #JusticeforJanet and #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay going strong on social media before Timberlake’s record third trip to the stage at the Super Bowl.

Speaking of Jessica, she replied to his apology with: “I love you” followed by a heart emoji.

But, guys, JT’s mentions are a mess. So let’s keep it up by also mentioning that he can add Prince, Sza and the millions of eyeballs he’s offended throughout his career to his list of mea, but mostly The Industry-a culpas.
