Jason Sudeikis Might Be Holding Out Hope That Olivia Wilde’s Thing With Harry Styles Is Temporary

Hot on the heels of the debut of WildeStyles (aka the relationship between 36-year-old Olivia Wilde and 26-year-old Harry Styles), was the revelation that maybe it wasn’t as cut-and-dry as it seemed. The timeline showed that Olivia went public-ish with Harry months after she and Jason Sudeikis called it quits.  Then we learned that the timeline might be a little off. Well, we might have some information that will corroborate that story. Us Weekly is saying that Jason Sudeikis might not have been as committed to being done as Olivia was.

Olivia and 45-year-old Jason were engaged for 7 years and together for about 9 years, and they share two kids: 6-year-old son, Otis Alexander, and 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Josephine. And the details of when they split have been a bit murky. According to their original announcement back in November, they reportedly split up at the beginning of 2020 but developed a healthy co-parenting routine to keep things stable for their kids. Then a source said that Olivia and Jason actually broke up in October 2019, and that Jason was blindsided by the news that they were over. Also, that Jason got a little suspicious of Olivia’s working relationship with Harry after they started filming Don’t Worry Darling together. Whatever suspicions he had kind of proved to be right, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end for him. If Us Weekly’s source is telling the truth, then it sounds like Jason is considering Harry to be more of a temporary rebound situation:

“Jason’s had no option but to step back and let Olivia do her thing, but he [has his fingers crossed] that this is just a phase and that Olivia will snap out of it or that Harry will get bored and move on before too long,” a source exclusively reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly. “He’s desperate to” win Wilde back so that they can “repair their family.”

Of course, sources close to Harry maintain that he had nothing to do with the end of Olivia and Jason’s relationship and that they were over by the time he and Olivia got involved.

If Jason is still getting heart palpitations from the thought of Olivia’s toothbrush returning to their shared holder in the bathroom, well – those are his feelings and his feelings only. But the part about winning her back might be tricky. Because there are two people who look like they’re having a good time getting photographed together. And really, Jason’s only plan is to wait and see.

Except waiting to see if Harry gets bored and moves on might be a bit of wishful thinking. Gets bored? I don’t know. Olivia seems pretty fun. I mean, “wild” is right there in the last name she picked for herself. Truthfully, he’s got a greater chance of Harry getting distracted and wandering off. Like if he were to be drawn into some kind of a Pied Piper situation. Jason just needs to lure Harry away with someone Harry could never turn down. It’s pretty simple, actually. Just tie a pair of wide-leg statement trousers to the back of a car bumper and hire the driver to drive as far out of town as possible. A vintage shirt with an extra-wide collar, perhaps. Maybe tie the pants to the back with a string of pearls or a Gucci scarf? It’s worth a shot.
