Tom Cruise Lost His Shit At Work Again Prompting Five Crew Members To Quit

Yesterday we found out what happens when you cross Tom Cruise. Surprisingly, he is not very chill about it. Like AT. ALL. When audio was leaked of him flipping his wig at a couple of crew members who broke COVID safety protocols by standing too close to each other on the set of Mission Impossible 7 in the UK, I couldn’t help but recall that picture of a radiant and triumphant Nicole Kidman twirling Sound Of Music style in a parking lot after signing her divorce papers. And according to Page Six, after a second on-set outburst, five MI7 crew members have also decided to quit a bitch and let their inner Julie Andrews twirl.

Page Six reports:

Five staffers on Tom Cruise’s new movie have quit, apparently feeling it was mission impossible to continue working for him after he launched a second rant on set, according to a report.

The 58-year-old actor went on another tirade Tuesday night as news of his first expletive-laced meltdown emerged, the Sun reported.

“The first outburst was big but things haven’t calmed since. Tension has been building for months and this was the final straw. Since it became public, there has been more anger and several staff have walked,” a source told the UK outlet.

“But Tom just can’t take any more after all the lengths they have gone to just to keep filming at all. He’s upset others aren’t taking it as seriously as him. In the end, he’s the one who carries the can.”

I mean, it’s funny because I think we all have a pretty good mental picture of what it looks like when Tom blows his top. He probably screams leaning all the way forward with his arms pushed back at his side with such force his little cha-cha heels lift right off the ground. But it’s also not funny because it’s fucking unprofessional. What’s even worse, Tom had a point. And now we know Tom himself is unimpeachable in his adherence to COVID protocol, no matter the circumstance. Excuse me just a second, I’ve got to take this phone call from TMZ.

So, yeah. About that. TMZ tells me that they have pictures of Tom on set in Rome from October standing face-to-face with his costar Hayley Atwell whose mask is understandably trying to run away down her face to escape hearing one more word about what a great read Dianetics is. Hopefully, it’s going to go look for Shelly Miscavige. Let us know if you find her, little mask!

Page Six notes that the same month these pictures were taken, Tom “held crisis talks with director Christopher McQuarrie days after a dozen people on set in Italy were said to have tested positive for the killer bug,” so maybe these were taken before he had his come to Jesus moment, which in his case, is a certain Mr. Tom Cruise. According to TMZ:

‘M.I. 7’ has been filming for months all over Europe, and we found these images from October of Tom and Hayley Atwell shooting in Rome. In one of them, Tom is wearing a face mask and talking to Hayley, who’s also got a mask on, but she’s not up to CDC snuff. You can see hers is down below her nose, and as we all know by now … that does not protect people from droplets that can transmit the virus.

Hayley’s showing the same bad form in another shot where Tom doesn’t have one on at all — although it’s possible he was about to shoot a scene.

Call me crazy but I’m beginning to think Tom might have different tolerances for cast and crew, almost as if he adheres to some sort of hierarchical system where those on top have all the power and those on the bottom scrub toilets until they can afford to move up. I guess those crew members who quit can forget about getting signed copies of The Problems of Work: Scientology Applied to the Workaday World by L. Ron Hubbard in their stockings this year. But at least they’ll know this feeling.
