Ryan Seacrest’s Wealthy Lifestyle Made Julianne Hough Uncomfortable

I don’t know which is a more embarrassing episode from Julianne Hough’s past, having dated Ryan Seacrest for three years, or the THAT Halloween costume. Either way, this Hough did both and on a recent Instagram Live appearance, she coyly addressed the former by talking about how she left a “very high profile relationship,” because the attendant yachts and such made her uncomfortable. No Ryan didn’t make her sleep in the hold with the rats, it’s just that Julienne felt she needed to earn the lifestyle on her own merits. So after she and Ryan broke up, she really got her Hough on. Come on. It’s Friday. I know it’s pronounced “huff,” but just let me have this. Please!

Before Glenn Close started fiddling with the light switch on her marriage to try-curious Brooks Laich, and before she came out as not straight and (unrelated) had demons flying out her ass, Julianne dated Ryan from 2010 to 2013. According to Entertainment Tonight, during that time, Julianne woke up next to Ryan every morning saying “this is not my beautiful wife!

Julianne Hough worked to find herself after a high-profile split. During an Instagram Live with Valeria Lipovetsky, the 32-year-old dancer recounted going through an “identity shift” after a breakup.

“It was 2013 and I had just got out of a relationship that was very high profile,” Hough began. “I was on private planes and yachts and living in a very, very well-off house. My life was pretty different from where I grew up.”

Boy, can I relate. I lived in a very, very well-off house once. But it worked constantly and never showed me the affection I deserved so I ended up having an affair with the garden shed. Let me just say, the hose was spectacular, but the spiders I could live without. Julianne added:

“I had just got out of that relationship because I wanted to create that for myself,” she continued. “I kind of felt like I didn’t deserve it, like, I didn’t earn that, so now I need to go and create that for myself.”

What is she even talking about?! She earned that cashmere and caviar lifestyle fair and square every time she and Ryan wore matching biker shorts and His-N-Hers fedoras for the paps. This is why contracts are so important, people! Julianne said that the discomfort of sleeping on 1000 thread-count sheets she did not buy herself, prompted her to break up with Ryan so she could find out “who Julianne is” (hint: she’s that Hough over there).

Hough’s breakup inspired her to begin living her life in a “different” way than she had thus far, and she stopped trying to live “in a state of perfection and image and doing everything the right way.”

“I kind of just was like, ‘eff it.’ I’m just going to do things where I’m not gonna necessarily overthinking them to make sure that I’m doing everything perfect and right,” she recalled. “And that year I kinda got a little lost.”

For Julianne, “getting lost” amounted to meeting some new friends who weren’t old and crusty like Ryan’s and taking HER fedora to Coachella one some Hough-shit.

“I really was like, ‘I’m 24 and I don’t really know who Julianne is,'” she said. “And so I met some girlfriends and we went to Coachella and we did certain things that I was not proud of, but also am kind of like, ‘Get it girl!'”

“So during that year it was kind of my wild year of abandon and freedom, and I realized that the pendulum swing went from one side to the extreme,” Hough added. “I was like, ‘OK, there’s gotta be something in the middle where I can find fulfillment without having to be so dynamic and extreme.'”

Well keep working on it Hough, I’m sure you’ll get there.
