Demi Lovato Just Released A Song That Is Probably About Her Breakup With Max Ehrich

It’s been all of sixteen seconds since Demi Lovato decided to err on the side of good choices and break up with her fiancĂ© with possibly shady motivations, Max Ehrich, after being engaged for a couple months. We have learned that Max didn’t have the most honorable of intentions when it came to why he wanted to marry Demi. That’s a real bummer of a revelation to throw into your diary. Except Demi is a musician, so she’s decided to pour out her emotions in a song that she wrote after her split and leaked today. Demi Lovato, the queen of making things happen fast.

The drama has barely dried on Demi’s latest dust-up with Max, in which he accused her of blindsiding him with a public breakup, and her side responded that, no, he wasn’t. But still, late last night she teased the existence of a song that would either explain it all or merely just give us some gossipy nuggets about this mess.

Demi came through with that promise today and leaked her own song, “Still Have Me.” It’s the perfect song for a movie trailer about a woman who leaves her corporate job and takes up surfing lessons, discovering along the way that her true soulmate is…herself.

People magazine says that Demi spoke about new music a little while ago during an interview with Apple Music, and she said that her new stuff will be “purpose-driven.” The purpose of this song isn’t explicitly to remind Max that she’s good without him. But TMZ says that’s a big part of the message of the song. Sources tell TMZ that Demi had written the song before this whole mess with Max, but that after her engagement went up in flames, she kept the melody and re-wrote the lyrics. They include:

I’m a mess and I’m still broken
I don’t have much but at least I still have me
and that’s all I need

All the highs and now just lows
But it doesn’t even matter, cause I’d rather be alone
All my life disappeared and I’m laying right here while the silence is piercing
And it hurts to breathe

You don’t have much? Girl, you have an engagement ring worth an estimated $2 and $5 million! What else do you need, besides ring insurance and a decent under-the-bed safe?

TMZ adds that Demi’s team had no idea she was dropping “Still Have Me” online this morning, so they’ve been scrambling to get the song on various streaming platforms. Max hasn’t commented on the song yet. I’m sure he’s about to tweet: “It’s fine, but there’s just a little too much screaming for me.
