Demi Lovato Might Have Been Questioning Max Ehrich’s Intentions

Yesterday we learned the devastating news that Demi Lovato called off her engagement to her actor fiancé of about 2.6 seconds, Max Ehrich. This development happened after Max had been exposed online as a former (and who knows, maybe current???) obsessive fan of Demi’s current acquaintance Selena Gomez. “Devastating” might sound like an over-exaggeration in this case. But it might be devastating to Max that he’s no longer engaged to Demi Lovato. Because according to some sources, Max might have been more in love with the relevancy boost he got from being with Demi.

Demi and Max had been together for about 5 months when they got engaged, and they hooked up at the beginning of COVID quarantine. That’s the first part of what might have broken them up. A source tells People magazine that Demi and Max’s relationship wasn’t the most authentic version of a relationship, because it took place in isolation, when you’ve got nothing but time to sleep, fuck, watch TV, and eat pasta until the seams of your sweatpants give out.

“Demi and Max were basically together 24/7 for months,” a source tells People. “They lived in a bubble with zero stress, and everything was just fun. Now they are both working and are on separate coasts.”

They’re working on separate coasts because Max has a job. Much to the surprise of many. Max is currently filming a movie called Southern Gospel in Atlanta, Georgia. Demi stayed behind in Los Angeles. This was creating a “conflict” between the two of them. Another source says that the distance put a “strain” on their relationship. Also putting strain on things was how Max suddenly became a somebody when he started showing up as the guy Demi was kissing in her Instagram pics.

“Max shot up in fame, and it’s been hard,” says the insider. “He got wrapped up in [Hollywood].”

That brings us to (dramatic music) Max’s motivations for being with Demi in the first place. E! News spoke with some sources and they paint a picture that’s just a bit messier than COVID quarantine cuddles and work obligations. One source says things “started going downhill” a few weeks before Max left Los Angeles for Atlanta, because Demi wanted to come with him, and Max wanted her to remain in their west coast quarantine love nest alone. Immediately after Max’s old social media activity went viral, Demi hopped on a plane and flew to Atlanta, likely to chew his ass out. Eventually, Demi might have seen the light. In this case, Max is like a flickering bulb swinging from alone string in a dank basement: sketchy!

In addition to their arguments, the source says the singer realized “she didn’t know who Max truly was and didn’t think he had good intentions.”

“There were many red flags she was ignoring and trying to turn a blind eye to,” the insider explains, with a second source adding, “She doesn’t trust him and thinks he’s sketchy.”

Another source says that Demi and her friends suspected that Max, “proposed to get attention.” Of course, he proposed to get attention! You don’t slip a diamond the size of a twin bed mattress onto your girlfriend’s finger unless you think she’s going to tag you in a post that she shares with her 93.2 million Instagram followers.

Meanwhile, Demi posted a pic on Instagram of herself wearing a shirt that reads: “Dogs Over People.” Confusing, considering Max kind of sounds like a real dog.

Max has clearly heard everyone accusing him of being a possible relationship scam artist, and he had this to say:

Even Jesus is probably like, “True, but this isn’t about me babe – this is about how much you may or may not actually have loved Demi.
