Open Post: Hosted By Raven-Symoné’s Surprise Wedding

June 18, 2020 / Posted by:

Raven-Symoné has decided to keep today’s Surprise! theme going by surprising everyone with the news that she got married to her girlfriend Miranda Maday this week. The coronavirus might have forced some famous people to reset their wedding dates to “TBD,” but not Raven and Miranda, who said coronavirus be damned, and got hitched.

Life & Style reports that before today, Raven and Miranda, who is a social media manager/doula (very L.A.), hadn’t mentioned each other on social media, so not only did they have a surprise wedding, they also surprised a whole lot of people that didn’t know they were together in the first place. Us Weekly reports that Raven kicked things off with this picture announcing that she’s a married woman now.

As you can see, Raven and Miranda got married in their backyard in coordinating hers and hers wedding day jumpsuits, with Raven working some knee-length Pride month-appropriate rainbow braids. I think I just checked off three boxes on my Lesbian Wedding Bingo card. And it’s nice Raven has leaned all the way into such gay wedding energy, as there was a time when she fought pretty hard against being labeled as gay. Or Black, for that matter. But a quick peek at her Instagram page shows she’s very much embraced both.

We don’t know what day they got married on, but thanks to Miranda we know they got married at 8 pm.

Us Weekly doesn’t say if there were any big names at Raven’s wedding, but it’s probably safe to say Raven “forgot” to send an invite to Orlando Brown. I just hope Raven was able to extend an invitation to the rest of the Cheetah Girls. Is it really even a wedding if your sisters aren’t there in matching cheetah print headbands cheering you on as you stomp down the aisle?
