Hailey Bieber Defended Celebrating Halloween As A Christian, And It’s Something

Hailey Bieber must be trolling me… but actually, she and her husbandJustin Bieber, are hyper religious so… she’s probably not.

Halloween is coming up, and as a devout Christ-Following woman of GOD (and Hillsong), Hailey took to Instagram to let all the people know that she is A-Okay with celebrating the Devil’s Day, which is a topic of debate for some Christians. That’s interesting, considering that contemporary Halloween practices are actually considered to be the way they are because of Christian influences so… yeah. But Hailey Bieber is a Halloween enthusiast! And she’s telling her Christian followers that it’s cool for you to be one too!

BuzzFeed reports that Halloween is not cancelled even if you are a God-fearing Christian. Which, apparently it might have been? There is a debate in the religious world about the demonic energies associated with Halloween. Of course there are none, since Halloween is considered a Christian bastardization of Samhain which was a harvest festival (us humans love to centre holidays around the food available to us, huh?) where people had dinner with dead relatives or whatever.

So as a Christian, Hailey had some thoughts on the whole “allegedly celebrating the devil” thing and let us all know that Halloween–and other holidays–belong to the Christians now. She wrote:

“I’m a Christian. Do you have any idea what that means historically? It means I redefine everything in culture. Pagan Feast of Winter Solstice? Oh that’s now JESUS BIRTHDAY. Pagan Feast of Spring Planting? Oh that’s now EASTER WEEKEND. Pagan Celtic Festival involving dressing up and warding off evil spirits? Oh now that’s All Saints Day and we celebrate the VICTORIOUS CHURCH THAT HAS OVERCOME BY THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB!!! CANDY PLEASE!!!”

That whole thing is a big Yikes from me. She is literally listing off the ways the Christian church historically appropriated non-religious celebrations for the sole purpose of religious indoctrination and framing it SO positively. Like she’s saying, “Yay! Jesus’ birthday is an arbitrary date chosen to convince early pagans to be Christian! Woohoo! Same with Easter!” I’m confused by it? Her energy levels are all over the place.

She continued by saying that she’s going to get herself some Diabetes in the name of GOD!

“I’m not afraid of the world. I’m not afraid of any devil or demon or incantation. They are terrified of me. Halloween is now MY HOLIDAY and I am claiming all candy for the glory of God and the celebration of the Saints. What now? I’ll dress up however I like! My favorite characters, pop culture stuff, whatever. It’s my party and you’re invited. I’m alive today and a Saint tomorrow. Give me candy.”

Here’s her rant:

I mean, okay. Dress up how you like because Jesus is the reason for every season, but please… Christian or not: just no blackface.
