Thankfully, There’s No Roger Ailes In The Teaser Trailer For “Bombshell”

The teaser trailer for the other Roger Ailes movie dropped today, and this is the one where John Lithgow slips into creep mode to play Roger during the 2016 Fox News sexual assault scandal. So for those that saw the word Bombshell and thought that Julia Houston finally got her Marilyn Monroe musical made, I’m sorry to get your hopes up.

In the teaser trailer, we get a short peek inside the Fox News offices, and then a whopping one minute and thirteen seconds of near silence inside an elevator. That might sound even more boring than the recent wordless trailer for The Crown, but there’s a little bit more to work with. Like Charlize Theron looking like a deepfake Megyn Kelly, and holy crap, is that ever a good Megyn Kelly impression. The store manager-demanding hair. The resting Fox News bitchface. Even Megyn Kelly probably looked at that and thought, “When was I in an office tower? Wait – do I have a job again??

Joining Charlize’s Megyn in the elevator are Margot Robbie, playing Kayla Pospisil, a producer and one of the only characters not based on a real person. There’s also Nicole Kidman’s version of Gretchen Carlson (who dropped the first bombshell in real life). Last year Gretchen let everyone know on Twitter that she hates Nicole’s portrayal of her, and that she thought Nicole-as-Gretchen looked nothing like real Gretchen. I don’t know. Nicole may look like a police station age progression of Suzanne Stone from To Die For, but she also looks like someone who would spit out her peppermint mocha if you wished her “Happy Holidays.

At the very least, she’s definitely rage-blasting her favorite Amy Grant CD in her SUV on the way home. That’s a pretty close match to me.
