Netflix Has Released The First Teaser Trailer For The Third Season Of “The Crown”

Funny, that’s the same look I gave Netflix when I finished watching the teaser trailer for the third season of The Crown and realized that Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II appears for a mere four – FOUR – seconds. I might have even let out a disappointed, “What in Her Royal Highness Hell?” in a terrible British accent, too. But for those of you who will happily accept four seconds of Olivia’s version of the Queen, then this trailer is your cup of tea.

The Crown Season 3 doesn’t drop on Netflix until November, so all the Crown fans (myself included) will have to wait a whole three months. And until the first official trailer is released, this should hold everyone over. Well, this, and the future story lines that are currently happening in real-time.

The third and fourth season will share the same cast, much like the first and second season did, and will take place in the 1970s and 1980s. Since the third season is set in the ’70s, I was kind of hoping this teaser trailer would feature Helena Bonham Carter’s Princess Margaret in a polyester jumpsuit, mixing herself a Harvey Wallbanger in the Buckingham Palace rec room.

We don’t get that, unfortunately. This teaser is so boring. It’s the Apple live photo equivalent of that teaser picture that was released last year around this time.

Before we get to those thrilling four seconds of Olivia (who spends most of her two seasons squaring off against the Margarets in her life), we sit in silence with eight seconds of a boring old couch and side-table. Then a confident Olivia as Liz walks in, and looks at us to say, “Oi, you know I’m gonna have a killer Emmy acceptance speech too.” Although that look could also be Olivia basking in the knowledge that there will be no pounds missing from her paycheck.
