Henry Cavill Has Responded To The Rumor That He’s Done Playing Superman

September 13, 2018 / Posted by:

Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter broke news that we might never see Henry Cavill’s thick thighs squeezed into his Superman suit ever again. Warner Bros. released a statement saying they loved working with Henry and that no decisions have been made, but they wouldn’t confirm whether he was officially done or not. Henry has jumped into the conversation, but he hasn’t said much either.

Henry slipped into a Krypton Lifting Team t-shirt and filmed a video for Instagram in which he said nothing and simply lifted up a Superman action figure. He captioned the video: “Today was exciting #Superman.” Johann Strauss II’s The Blue Danube (plus some dogs) provided the soundtrack.

Henry’s manager Dany Garcia retweeted the video, writing only “Because…#HenryCavill.” Much like Warner Bros., neither Henry nor Dany is giving you a clue as to what’s happening with Henry’s Superman future. That video is a mystery. Is he celebrating his performance by way of that doll? Is he about to throw it in the trash? Is it still in the box because Henry feels like he’s trapped in a prison of his own making?! Who knows, and Henry isn’t saying. But the internet is talking, and it sounds like Henry might not have said anything in that video because he didn’t want to let the words “Peace, I’m outta here faster than a speeding bullet” slip. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has been toying with the idea of giving Superman a makeover, and replacing him with Michael B. Jordan.

As mentioned yesterday, Warner Bros. wants to focus on a Supergirl movie, starring a teen Supergirl and a younger Superman.

The rumors don’t end there – we’ve actually now got a rumor about the rumor. According to TMZ, this will-he-or-won’t-he between Henry and Warner Bros. is fake drama. Sources say that there’s no current discussion about Henry’s future as Superman because there is no future Superman project. Henry had reportedly walked away from Superman because he didn’t think he was getting paid enough, but TMZ’s sources say that’s not true. They claim that if and when another Superman movie comes up, Henry will be the first person called, and salary negotiations will follow.

So Henry could be done, or he’s waiting for more money, or maybe Henry likes the attention this is bringing him and he’s playing along. My intuition tells me he’s out, and that Instagram video is the biggest clue. Henry went royalty-free classical with the music, clearly because 3 Doors Down was going to charge and arm and a leg for the rights to Kryptonite. And Henry shouldn’t splurge on such wild extravagances if he’s not getting DC money anymore.
