Ben Affleck Is Reportedly Ready To Hang Up His Batfleck Cape

Ben Affleck’s standalone Batman movie hasn’t even started shooting yet and it’s already turning into a bigger wreck than Batman & Robin (although, it’s one of my favorite thanks to Vivica A. Fox’s important cameo appearance as Ms. B. Haven). When The Batman was first announced, Warner Bros. said that Ben would be writing, directing and starring in it. But then Ben dropped out as director and Matt Reeves was brought in as his replacement. Now there’s a rumor that Ben doesn’t even want to star in it anymore and is done with playing Batman. “You’re late to the party, bitch, we were done with you playing Batman the day it was announced,” screamed millions of tricks to Ben.

The rumor came from John Campea, the host of Collider Movie Talk (via Movie Web), and he warns that everybody should read it with skeptical eyes. John says that he’s heard from sources that after playing Batfleck in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League, Ben is ready to give it up and move on. Ben supposedly wants to write and produce The Batman, but that’s it.

“Take this for what it’s worth. This is from a guy who has been burned twice by scoops, so please take this with a massive, massive grain of salt. Over the past four days, I’ve talked to three separate people, who are connected in some way, to what is going on over at Warner Bros. What all three have told me, nothing about whether the script was thrown out or whether they liked the script, nothing about the direction that Matt Reeves is taking it in, nothing about that. What has come out of the conversation with all three was this. They’re telling me that, Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he does want out. He doesn’t want to be Batman anymore. I have been told that Affleck is talking with Warner Bros. in an attempt to get out of being Batman. If they do not let him out of being Batman, that the stand alone Batman film that ultimately happens, will be the last time we see Affleck as Batman, because he apparently wants out.”

I think we all know the exact moment when Ben decided that he was done with Batman. Or maybe this is the exact moment when Ben decided that he’s done with everything. Either or.

Ben has a contract with Warner Bros., so if there’s even one layer of truth to this rumor, then it’s probably up to Warner Bros. if they want to let him out or not. The Lego Batman Movie was #1 at the box office this past weekend, so Warner Bros. could decide to replace Ben with gigantic box office star Lego Batman! It’s really time for Lego Batman to transition into grittier and more dramatic roles. But since Lego Batman emotes more human emotion than Ben Affleck does, he’ll be a totally different Batman, so who knows if Warner Bros. wants that.

And since we’re on the subject of Ben’s replacement, here’s my choice posing with Sienna Miller and Robert Pattinson (who looks like a European EDM star) at a photo call for The Lost City of Z at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival. Charlie Hunnam would make the perfect Batman if they reboot the role as Buttman and made his suit ass-less.
